I didn't see any threads dedicated to TYS, so...

I went to see them live last night, sandwiched between Rivers Of Nihil (meh) and BTBAM (meh, again).

These guys were dead-on fantastic! Loose, yet super-tight at the same time. I will go see them again at every opportunity!

One of my favorite modern bands. Love their music and horn arrangements. Tom Monda is one of the best guitar players around but never gets any recognition. I have not seen them live, but I'm sure they blow the doors off.

They are the perfect example of a proggy emo punk style called SWANCORE. I've yet to hear all their albums but definitely an interesting band.

I'm kind of hot and cold on them. Maybe they will grow on me? Not sure. I think my biggest issue is the singer's voice. I'm not really into that emo style so much and it's a major reason why Coheed and Cambria is a big turn off to me. TYS is much more prog than C&C though.

I have their first ep (meh to me) and the first two full length on cd and that's it. I think that's enough for me. Not everyone can like the same thing. I'm not saying they are bad but I haven't really warmed up to them yet. They were pretty good live the one time I saw them though (playing with the Tea Club and headliners Haken several years ago).

Good lord, there's a name for everything...haha!!

At any rate, a fantastic live band! If you ever get the chance, GO!

I recently made a list for Rate Your Music for SWANCORE. Many of the bands on my list that aren't here probably should be and the subgenre could also be warranted for PA.

https://rateyourmusic.com/list/siLLy_puPPy/swancore-the-progressive-hardcore-detour/

Definition: SWANCORE

is a sub-genre of post-hardcore music that incorporates elements of math-rock, progressive-rock, and post-rock and high-pitched and/or scream vocals. So basically at its essence, it is progressive hardcore. Bands that fall under this category originally were signed to Blue Swan Records but its popularity has propelled it into a separate genre. Blue Swan Records was started by Will Swan hence, the name "swancore."

Is there a reason why The Planet You is not considered Swancore? They sound like the absolute best of the genre for me. Particularly, Techxture.

I appreciate them more live. I have seen them a couple of times as the main act. Fun band and great musicians.

This band really rocks! I always have had a love towards prog rock bands that have that post hardcore edge (Mars Volta, Coheed, Hail The Sun, Closure in Moscow, etc) and this band excels in that with fun, fast, jazzy songs! Also Faye is a great drummer, sad she isn't in the band now, but man is her drumming great
