That's an unimpressive list for a year like 1972 imo. 1 Superfly 2 Close to the Edge 3 Can't Buy a Thrill 4 Home is Where the Music is 5 Black Sabbath Vol. 4 I have a distaste for everything Randy Newman, the bluegrass of Nitti Gritti Dirt Band bores me to death, Slade were always a mediocre singles band to me... and Big Star - yeah I don't get what's the big deal about them. The rest is probably fine, but not among my favorites.

Close To The Edge, followed by Machine Head.
However one of my biggest annoyances is that one of my favourite albums of all time, Argus by Wishbone Ash, is never included in these "1001 albums you must hear before you die" lists. If it was then it would have got my vote here.

You're right. Time Was when I didn't like Wishbone Ash, but I'm a huge fan now. I would've voted for Argus too if the album had been included in the book of 1001 Albums, but as you say, it's not there. Anyway, someday the album will come, so I'll throw down the sword for someone to come up with a better 1972 poll than this one - which won't be difficult.
