They kind of did for a brief while, didn't they? They just didn't manage to become anywhere as successful as Genesis at it.

There's no Camel album I'd give less than three stars. Even the poppier ones have their moments.

Same here.

If this was the year 2000, 2010 or 2020 I would have voted for Genesis without hesitation. But I've grown so much fonder of almost every Camel album in my collection during the last couple of years. With Genesis I will always love the Gabriel-era. It plays a vital part of my early days of discovering prog and a part of my musical DNA), but I can't remember the last time I played any of their albums.

Genesis (Gabriel era) over  early Camel.....though I am very fond of the first 5 Camel lps.
While the later lps by both have some good music they don't appeal to me as much as the early stuff.
One does nothing yet nothing is left undone.

Genesis for sure... If i was to include all of Genesis, (i think i heard it all) then it would bring my rating down to Camel level.

Camel did have a few poppy ones especially the single factor. I don't hate it but it must be their weakest album. https://www.progarchives.com/Review.asp?id=2413987

Genesis for me. I agree Genesis later records are poppier (after Wind & Wuthering), but their impact on prog music is immense anyway. If they'd done only Foxtrot and Selling England, it would be enough for me. Although I love Camel (and I've got all their classic era records), I have to go with Genesis - this time (and not only).

Will that change in this poll?

Do a poll of Genesis's 80's period. That will be enough for me to lose their vote.

Even the poppier ones of Camel are better than any of the Genesis 80's pop albums.

Camel for me. Don’t really care that much for Gabriel era. Fox and Tres are cool though
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

How many Genesis pop album released ?!

More than Camel but the prog period of Genesis beats Camel by quite a bit imo.

Genesis, but I do like Camel. Snow Goose is one of the most played albums I have in my collection. But, I also wore out Selling England by the Pound, Foxtrot, A Trick of the Tail and Nursery Cryme too.
