Random list of bands, not artist names, other than I have been into all of these, and this was put together quickly as something to do while I wait in a parking lot. If you like any of these, please vote for up to five (for those who like limits and more for those who don’t if they want to be limited) and maybe say something about your favourite albums.

I’ll be interested to see how comments and mentions multiple albums and how many mention the not such big names at least at our forum. And If anyone dies not like any of these, that to would be interesting to me, and feel free to talk about you like. both positive and negative comments about the selection are welcome.

EDITED: I added Portishead, bizarre omission from me (should have been one of the first I thought of, and maybe it was and I promptly forget) and The Residents as I have been getting more into The Residents of late. I'm giving Portishead a vote. This band has been so played by me over the last few years.

Over the past three years in particular, the ones of these that have been most played regularly may be Boards of Canada, Cocteau Twins, Swans, and Stereolab. Pram and Broadcast as well. And I'll give black midi a vote because I got very into that this year. Things like Art Zoyd, Magma, Can, Air, VdGG, Tangerine Dream etc. are still often played, but I tend to favour in polls that which I have not been into for quite so long (Air was the first I got into out of any of these acts). All of these have music I love, of course.

I like more than one album by Can, Magma, Tangerine Dream and VdGG
quality over quantity, and all kind of PopcoRn almost beyond

One thing other than I like an album by all they they all share in common with me is that I like multiple albums by all of these and I have listened to multiple albums by all of these many, many times. I tend to play the fudge (not of the vanilla sort) out of albums I like.

I very quickly put together a little playlist, covering lots of know faves by me (were one to have payed much attention over time) and a few that I have not given so much attention to, but for some reason immediately that track came to mind.

Many of these bands I'm unfamiliar with, so an easy choice for me of Tangerine Dream, followed by Spyrogira (the British Prog Folk band and not the American Jazz Fusion combo). Smile

The British Prog Folk/ Psych Folk band is what I was referring to if anyone has any doubts. Spirogyra of which I referred should not be confused with the American jazz fusion one called Spyro Gyra or the video game that I own called Skylanders: Spyo's Adventure, or the pseudo punk, and pseudo everything, band, Spyrogira whose never album Kicking You in the Face never topped the pop charts. When I have mentioned Spirogyra some have thought I was referring to that jazz outfit, which I have listened to but not enjoyed.

It's quite like me, as my collection is rather small.

To confuse matters even more, I used to have a Spirograph drawing set. Smile

Quality over quantity for you.

I have quite a big collection mostly in storage. I mostly stream music these days, and I do that with albums in my collection too. I still purchase some records, and pay for certain music on bandcamp. In the first instance because I like to collect, and in the latter just to support and give something back to the artist especially since I don't get out to a lot of concerts. I want them compensated and for them hopefully to be more keen, have more resources, and to have more time to make more music. Perhaps artists should suffer, but maybe they shouldn't have to suffer hugely. ;) It is nice to at least throw a coin or two in some busker's guitar case now and then, and to buy Mick Jagger a coffee (I read he likes Irish coffee, so keep some Irish whisky in a flask when you go out just in case if going the average coffee shop route). It's just a way of us music consumers giving back even if some of them don't need the financial or other types of assistance as much as others. Excuse any silliness.

I'm quite obsessive, so if I discover or re-discover an album that really appeals, then at times I can play it over and over and over again. It's like I want to internalise/ absorb all of it. Then I may not play it for years or ever again.

After making this poll, I played Godspeed You Black Emperor!'s Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven! and was blown away by it all over. Sad I didn't include The Residents, noticed that after posting. Known the band for decades, but I got more into it over the last few years (long loved Eskimo).

Can, GYBE and VdGG. There are many others on the poll that I like, but these I like the most by a clear margin.

I like a good number of these but I ended up voting for Area, Cocteau Twins, Henry Cow and Soft Machine since those hold a more important place in my heart than the other nominees.

For reasons I cannot articulate, my gut went with Can, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Radiohead, Swans, and Van der Graaf Generator.

Yes, but I also like to have really many artists represented.

Henry Cow, Area, Can, VDGG, and black midi. The planetary sunrise stomach causes an analogue contrast with giant bee studios.
