For the moment im atracted to various music of all decades, not necesarilly prog propper. I just love listening to good craftmanship. Certain pop songs with classic baroque pop arrangement, is a particular favourite of mine .

I am proud to say that i put highly the pop craftmanship of Gilbert O'Sullivan, whom like Carpenters made glorious music.

The song "Nothing Rhymed" is onr of the best pop songs ever made or at least one of my favourite songs to return to. Its so captivating and glorious. With lovely arrangement and instrumentation. I might take some days to experience som O'Sullivan flavoured pop, easy listening pop.

He was a lyrical genius - all his songs told a story.

I bumped into Gilbert O'Sullivan in my bank yesterday.

What did he want?

Alone again, naturally.

To read about hes relationship with Supertramps founder Rick Davies in hes formative years, is quite humbeling. Not only was he tough drums by Rick Davies but Rick also guided hes piano-playing. They were in band in Swindon and was very close.

Harry Nilsson and Dan Fogelberg had their moments too.

Spessial detail about Nothing Rhymed is the distinctive bass guitar by Herbie Flowers, one of Brittains finest sessions bass players, slightly reminds me of Dee Murray. I like bass lines with crispy plucky and and slightly free flowing. Exellent bass line in this song ",Nothing Rhymed, and the piano playing is also quite elegant.

It's very nice. You got to check out The Lemon Twigs latest Everything Harmony. Stunning, crafty pop.

^ really good song, nice chords and subtle progressions, sometimes i cherrish subtle yet sophisticated baroque pop, equaly to complex prog. Soft rock is the worst lable to haplen to serios singer-songwriters, then credibility is lost or the struggle to hail artists as Gilbert O'Sullivan.

^ I see what you mean. But I unashamedly love a lot of (so-called) Soft Rock. I do think this "credibility"-thing is a bit of a thing of the past. Credibilty this and that is an anachronism from the era of the Prog/Fusion/AOR-hating, Ramones-loving rock-journalist in black denim. You know, that guy who doesn't think your feelings are "real" if you know how to play your instrument well, or if you write songs that his mom actually enjoys. He was always a bore, and he's of work now. Kids - or young people these days don't seem to care about such things at all.
