A couple of Beardfish LPs arrived this week:

+4626 Comfortzone
The Void

I so wish they hadn't disbanded. They're one of my favourites.

All the Zepp LPs sound soooo much better than any CD. Bonzo's drums are so much bigger on LP. Plus you get huge slam effect that is totally missing on the CDs. The pricey ones are stamped RL in the run out groove, as those are considered the best sounding. The RL stamped of II can be hot cut though. The reissues from 2014 are pretty good, cut from 24bit files.

The music is quite great, but the production is quite a bit of digital plastic-fantastic sound, especially the drums. Unhappy

To be fair, I better tell here that I now have got some informations, which may indicate that the character of the production is intended.

The new Rhino High Fidelity release of The Cars, cut by Kevin Gray is amazing!! I have an OG version from '78 mastered by George Marino at Sterling which sounds excellent, but this new version is brilliant. And for $40, all analog from original master tapes....sweet!

Only 5,000 were pressed..

I've been spinning this album a lot, like every other day or so. I know it back and forth, inside out and upside down. I tend to like Candy-O better, but this one has a massive spot in my heart from '78, I think I was a freshman in HS.
This new version is simply stellar, the band is in my room, the 3D effects of depth of vocals is nutz. The music moves back and forth and has a huge soundstage, simply a joy to listen to.
The OG sounds excellent but this one is amazing.....
I also have CD versions, which are very good simply due to the fact it is an analog recording. This record is a perfect example of why analog recordings captured sound light years better than anything digital. I have a ton of digital, but it simply does not hold a candle to an analog to tape recording.
Kevin Gray took the original tapes and created an album that brings you into the studio in 1978. Everyone on music forums are calling this album the definitive version to own....and by the way it was only $40 bucks.

Mike from the In Groove........

Another great reissue by The Flower Kings, I think this completes my getting the reissues on LP from TFK. I really enjoy this album, glad to have it on vinyl. And as usual a great package by Roine...
