I'm not huge in this genre but here are mine

Behold The Arctopus
Diablo Swing Orchestra

Leprous

Unexpect would have made the list but their debut was 1999

Mad points to you for not only listing, but knowing OF Behold The Arctopus. I love their EP and Skullgrid discs. New stuff is just as good! I always say this band was created entirely around the sound of Larks' Tongues in Aspic part 2, and Colin Marston does not deny this lol.

Between The Buried in Me as well are up there; The Great Misdirect.

As I said I've come to a bunch of this from the Avant end of the spectrum. The most recent release by Behold The Arctopus is their best in my opinion, the new drummer who is more of a percussionist adds a lot to their sound.

I saw BTA live in 2019 in a tiny bar in Bosdton with about 20 people there, they were superb.

Threshold, Vanden Plas, Riverside, Anathema, Subsignal (although I have serious doubts about the metallic qualities of the last two, so in the event of their being discounted)... it will have to be DT and SX!

The OP wants bands that started and released albums in the 2000s and 2010s.
So Anathema, Vanden Plas and Threshold do not fit here.

Good choice for Subsignal, one of the best bands in recent years. Tongue

My appreciation of 'Prog Metal' was never the same as most posts in here... Threshold, Vanden Plas and Therion were always my faves; they consistently touched an emotional nerve within me which few others ever reached, even DT, SX or Shadow Gallery who would probably be next on the list... then, I also liked Riverside, Anathema, Subsignal, Wolverine and PT, but frankly for different, non-metal reasons?

You forgot about Circus Maximus which you had one of their albums as avatar for a really long time, or am I remmebering wrong?! Smile

Wolverine - great example, another overlooked band that deserves much better.
