4 stars 1979: Pretenders - Pretenders - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmwpEmD6-QU

Contrary to popular belief, Brass in Pocket is not about scraping a living as an underpaid and overworked waitress in a backstreet cafe, but it's about the confidence (or brass neck) one needs to perform well on stage - according to Chrissie Hynde. Smile

It's tempting to drop any albums I've only rated two stars from the poll, but it's the two-star albums that often go on to win the poll. Tongue

Blondie won my vote easily in this poll, but deciding who to include and who to leave out of these polls is always The Hardest Part. Smile

Sorry, I've never been a fan of XTC, so I doubt if any of their albums are going to get any higher than a 2-star rating from me. Embarrassed

I choose Regatta de Blanc.
And it gets even better in 1980, when there are so many New Wave albums to choose from that it Buggles the mind trying to narrow it down to just 25 albums for the poll. Geek

I am honestly surprised how many people like this album. I certainly do.

Things become seriously good here with Cure & Joy Division making their debut in the series, and Talking Heads, Japan & Stranglers getting better and better. My winner however is Joe Jackson.
