Lodger is actually among my favorite Bowie-albums. So another Bowie-vote from me. Most of these albums got something to them. Both Gary Numan and Tubeway Army are great. Joy Division, The Cure, Japan, Boomtown Rats, Talking Heads are all good (never been as crazy about Joy Division as I know many are). Blondie is a wonderful singles band, and there's very little I dislike here. Even Clash sounds occasionally semidecent by now at times. But some of the ones I'm actually a fan of (Siouxsie & The Cure in particular), got more interesting - and better - in the early eighties. Edited by Saperlipopette! - May 23 2023 at 13:55 |

Nice collection, again, of which I - discarding Bowie - personally like The B-52's, Japan, Gary Numan, Talking Heads, Toyah and Tubeway Army. Will vote for The Pleasure Principle.

Things become seriously good here with Cure & Joy Division making their debut in the series, and Talking Heads, Japan & Stranglers getting better and better. My winner however is Joe Jackson.

Gary Numan
I am honestly surprised how many people like this album. I certainly do. |

A poor year for Prog, but some of the better New Wave albums are to be found here: The Police, Joy Division, Tubeway Army. Not the hideous Lodger, but Bowie is quite out of place in this niche. And the time for the Simple Minds had not yet come.
I choose Regatta de Blanc.

And it gets even better in 1980, when there are so many New Wave albums to choose from that it Buggles the mind trying to narrow it down to just 25 albums for the poll.

Tough choice between two of my favourite band - The Jam and XTC. The former just edge it as XTC hadn't quite peaked on Drums and Wires imo (even so, no way is it a 2 star album

Sorry, I've never been a fan of XTC, so I doubt if any of their albums are going to get any higher than a 2-star rating from me.
