Lorenzo: Your first video does not show up for me so I added a different one to the playlist. And I could not add your second video to the playlist due to there being the message "This action is turned off for content made for kids" when trying to save it to the playlist.

Ok, now that I have done more research into the guest appearances of Peter Hammill as lead vocals, I can submit two tracks by artists that are not in PA: Notopia - Celebrating Life - Connect (feat. Peter Hammill) Saro Cosentino - The Road To Now - The Joke (feat. Peter Hammill) Edited by I prophesy disaster - May 01 2023 at 12:37 |

^ Thanks. Plenty of time to decide which will be your two main choices, and your additional "bonus" track (not required but would like three).
I was just reminded of Beth Gibbon of Portishead. I've covered Portishead a fair amount already, and would go with "The Rip" off Portisheads' Third, but I think I nominated that before (I adore that song off a too often neglected album, imo). Here is Portishead's "It's a Fire ' (on some releases of Dummy, not on the one I had heard) And Beth Gibbons & Rustin Man's - "Spider Monkey" off 2002's Out of Season I want to mention a couple more "bonus" tracks featuring Beth Gibbons (there are a lot to choose from). Rodrigo Leão featuring Beth Gibbons - "Carousel" (off the album Cinema from 2004) Gonga (with Beth Gibbons) - "Black Sabbath" (off the 2014 Black Sabbath single) . * I mention "It's a Fire" because it's lesser known and something of a bonus track on some Dummy issues (hadn't been on any I had heard). I've covered a lot of Portishead in various topics here but this is kind of different. Edited by Logan - April 30 2023 at 23:22 |

Yep, the focus is on singers involved in several musical ventures (solo, bands, collaboration of some sort, singing a song for a band/artist....) No hurry, the voting in Mila's poll isn't complete, and it may never be complete, but I don't expect much attention to this while that process is ongoing. Not that I specifically have looked to see who and how many have not yet registered their votes, but that was my impression. |

The tracks are under different project names in so far as the artist on the second track only appears as a featured artist. Thanks for offering your help but I doubt you know the artist. She comes from La Réunion, an island in the Indian Ocean, near Madagascar. - In any case I will choose an artist from outside the western cultural sphere that is already well represented here. :P Edited by Mila-13 - May 01 2023 at 02:25 |

Maybe you'll bring in some metal as well even if out of competition. I for one need some metal in my diet and too often forgot how much metal I really enjoy, including metal singers.
I'm pretty good at research, so figured I could help with the aid of a search engine and searching some music websites if I knew the details. I'm somewhat familiar with Christine Salem, but no others that I can think of, but of course I could search. Edited by Logan - May 01 2023 at 03:02 |

Really? There are quite a few vocalists that have been involved in several bands/projects, they guested with other artists and so on. I could post a few videos.

My first thoughts on the topic were Ted Leonard, Anneke van Giersbergen and Ray Alder. Ted Leonard (Enchant, Xen, Affector, Spock's Beard, Thought Chamber, Pattern-Seeking Animals) Anneke (The Gathering, solo, Vuur, Devin Townsend, and I'm sure there are others, i just listen to these ) Ray Alder (Fates Warning, Engine, Redemption, solo, A-Z, Figure of Speechless) there's also Michael Kiske (Helloween, solo, Place Vendome, Unisonic, and I'm sure a lot of guesting) Jorn Lande (Ark, Masterplan, solo and many others, I just listen to these three). I also looked for videos of a Romanian musician/song-writer that also sings, a guitarist rather than a vocalist, if i find something, I'll definitely post here, might even be my nomination.

Oh, great you know Christine Salem! I had a young rock musician in mind but I think I will bring her on another occasion. It is also about showing the musical diversity of an artist after all, isn't it?

My
choice, which may seem a little unusual at first glance, is Richard Bona, best
known as one of the most sought-after jazz bassists, worldwide. However, based
on his first solo albums, we can see/hear that he is also a gifted vocalist. It
was not easy to make a selection from Bona's rich and varied oeuvre, but I
finally decided on the following three tracks:
The
1st song, a duet with the famous Malian musician Salif Keïta, is from his third solo
studio album Munia/The Tale, 2003. Solo album in this context includes his own band.
Richard Bona ft. Salif Keïta: Kalabancoro The
2nd song is from his second collaborative album with Gérald Toto FRA/MTQ and Lokua
Kanza COG (Bondeko, 2017). Bona himself is from Cameroon btw. Toto Bona Lokua: Ma Mama And finally, a 3rd song from his latest collaboration with the Cuban jazz pianist Alfredo Rodriguez with whom he has toured extensively over the last few years. I was lucky enough to attend their fantastic concert in Switzerland! Richard Bona & Alfredo Rodriguez: Raíces/Roots I don't know yet how I should classify the three chosen tracks here, because actually all three would fit into the main category imo. The first suggested track is from Bona's solo project which includes his own band plus a guest vocalist. As a bassists he's played in plenty of jazz bands, on a few occasions he has also provided vocals, but I find those tracks musically less interesting and accordingly they are also quite jazzy of course which does not necessarily correspond to the general taste in a rock oriented forum. @Greg, what do you think? ^ Mila, I like it in the order you presented. Those first two Bona songs for the "main" (those two are my faves of the three) and the third for the Bon[a]us. Good variety on those tracks and nice to see it become more wordly.

LoL I've meanwhile specified my question (see above). Accordingly track no. 1 from the solo album would most likely fit into the bonus category, don't you think?

^ It doesn't really matter to me much how people want to order it, but sure. I want to be pretty easy-going even though I often do go overboard with rules (which humours me and annoys others sometimes). Feel free to order it as you best think fits. :) I trust people's judgment, mostly.... Well, other than my own judgment.

Ok, I'll tink about my choice until nomination. Bona often uses his voice rather as an istrument than in the classical sense.

^ I'm holding off to give more people a chance to vote in your poll before putting this one up, although most have. In the meantime, people can mention as many applicable trios and duos as they want. I probably will put this up the weekend after next unless someone else is aching for a turn at making an Interactive Poll and wants this one to have moved on....
I put together the OP really quickly this time without much thought, quite spontaneous, which is a reason why I'm not too concerned about such placement matters. I had the basic idea and then immediately threw this together. Edited by Logan - May 03 2023 at 12:47 |

^ Don't worry, Greg. 6/9 people have voted in the previous poll. As mentioned earlier, the concept was intended for a smaller number of participants. Surprisingly more people joined in than expected, which is great but accordingly the listening time became longer. Put up your poll whenever you think it's right. Obviously, everything is unpredictable here, whatever we do. But the main thing is that the IP's go on!
