The Chilean composer, producer and guitar player Aurelio Silva (1988) released his new album Rubedo on March 17. This is the fourth and final volume of his Cuadríptico (quadriptych) project, which is inspired by the four stages of alchemy. The album explores fusion compositions between chamber music and aesthetics such as post rock, dream pop, minimalist music, glitch and hip-hop among others.

The album features guests such as Christian Hirth from MediaBanda on Drums, DJ Pérez and the outstanding chilean violinist Miguel Ángel Muñoz. The production and mixing were in charge of Silva himself, being recorded at CHT Estudios, Chamaca Studio, and Estudio Palo Quemado.

The production, which began to be worked on in 2020, contains a chamber trio for violin, turntable and drums entitled gravit, and a cycle of four instrumental songs called Wormholes & Popcorn. This cycle was written for an instrumental septet made up of flute, piano, vibraphone, cello, drums, electric guitar and synthesizers. The compositions are structured as songs with simple patterns, where harmonies and melodies are superimposed to form complex textures and musical gestures rich in timbral colors.

On the other hand, the camera trio is inspired by the concept of gravity and the interaction of objects and bodies in space, proposing a journey through different sound textures that expand and contract to meet in clusters of sounds and rhythmic groupings, presenting a striking variety of sonic moments.

Aurelio Silva has made more than 18 experimental compositions in chamber, electroacoustic, mixed and hybrid formats, which have been performed and premiered at various festivals and concerts in Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Cuba, France, Italy, Germany, Canada and Spain. He plays guitar on the bands MediaBanda and ZET, and works as a final year project teacher at UNIACC University and at CHT Lab, where he also teaches Music Production.

Rubedo is available on all digital platforms, and in high quality format through Bandcamp.

Hello everyone,

Enjoy the ride!
