Neo Prog Britannia
CREDO A band whose music has variously been described as British Progressive Rock, Neo Prog, Symphonic Prog, Melodic Prog or Classic Rock. Credo really don't mind what you call them, as they've always lived by the Credo of creating great music together, and that's no empty Rhetoric. After all, to do anything else would be Against Reason. This is What They Do, and they do it Live in Poland too. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

CYAN Welsh keyboard wizard Rob Reed is the man behind the grandiose and majestic music of Cyan. You may know him better as a founder member of that other colourful Neo Prog band: Magenta. The debut album from Cyan is so good that Rob Reed recorded it twice, but if you're not sufficiently motivated to give it a listen, then do it For King and Country. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - March 27 2023 at 07:32 |

DARWIN'S RADIO Why not tune in and turn on to the sound of Darwin's Radio and hear Darwin's theory of prog evolution for yourself? The Eyes of the World are upon this dynamic Neo Prog band as they may be a Template for a Generation of new prog fans. Some hope!

EARTHSTONE The musical Seed of an idea between guitarist Chris Philips and keyboard player Chris Bond, where they endeavoured to create the musical equivalent of a clear starry night spent in woodland, surrounded by crystals, and sitting amongst the fairies, elves and unicorns. That would be a night out with Jon Anderson then. ![]() ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - March 28 2023 at 11:34 |

ECHOREC One of the newest bands on the Neo Prog scene, arriving here some forty years after the original new wave of British prog in the early 1980's. Echorec's music is said to have echoes of Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, YES, Genesis and Animals as Leaders. Who!?? ![]() ![]() |

EDEN SHADOW Britain's got talent! Forget the TV show. Neo Prog is where the real talent lies. Eden Shadow's founder member Ryan Elliott began composing the music for the band's first EP while he was still in short trousers at school. Well, it beats doing homework. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - March 30 2023 at 02:44 |

Neo Prog Britannia EDISON'S CHILDREN Anglo-American Neo Prog trio Edison's Children are the most exciting thing to happen in the progosphere since the invention of electricity! No, really!! This band are amazing!!! Okay, enough exclamation marks already. Reportedly, during the recording sessions for the first album at Ocean Pines, Maryland, the studios were rocked by an earthquake of 5.9 on the Richter Scale which shook the entire eastern seaboard of the United States. Here's hoping Edison's Children will rock your world too, in the nicest possible way of course. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

ELEGANT SIMPLICITY Excellent musicianship from one-man-band Steven McCabe, although the weak wishy-washy vocals leave something to be desired. Still, having a weak singing voice never did any harm to the solo careers of Pete Sinfield, Steve Howe or Robert Wyatt - and I say that with just The Ghost of a Smile. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - April 03 2023 at 11:57 |

Neo Prog Britannia THE EMERALD DAWN This merry band of Scottish tree-hugging environmentalists are:- Katrina "Tree" Stewart (vocals); Alan "Ally" Carter (guitars & keyboards); "JayJay" Quick (bass); and Tom Jackson (drums), who hasn't yet acquired a nickname, but I'm guessing it'd be "Jacko". What can you expect from this green and pleasant band? Well, there are achingly-beautiful vocals from lovely Katrina and some simply scintillating orchestral keyboards and glittering guitar glissandos from Ally. All in all then, The Emerald Dawn are everything you could wish for and more besides from the magical world of British Neo Prog. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - October 05 2023 at 03:46 |

EPILOGUE The ideal band for listening to at the end of a busy day. Neo Prog foursome Epilogue are from Stoke on Trent, which is coincidentally the same Potteries town that Robbie Williams hails from, but before you make a mockery of their crockery, Epilogue are worlds away from the forgettable mindless pap that Norman Wisdom lookalike Robbie Williams churns out with such regularity. ![]() ![]() Norman Wisdom & Robbie Williams:- One was a comedy clown whose career is now deceased..... The other one with real talent was named Norman Wisdom! ![]() ![]() |

Neo Prog Britannia THE FAR MEADOW A London-based five-piece-band with music in the classic Symphonic Prog style, Where Joys Abound for prog fans. Given the Impossible and the addition of a female singer for their second album, this band could go far - maybe into The Far Meadow in a distant Foreign Land. ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - April 07 2023 at 08:22 |

SEAN FILKINS Not many of us have the time or inclination to read Leo Tolstoy's epic War and Peace with its 1,225 pages, but it'll only take up an hour of your time to listen to Sean Filkins musical equivalent: War and Peace & Other Short Stories, and no one dies in this abridged version either. Sean Filkins was previously aboard the Big Big Train, so why not take a trip with him on his one and only solo outing. I'm sure you'll find the journey worthwhile and to your exquisite tastes, just so long as you avoid the stale pork pies and the insipid coffee from the British Rail buffet car in cattle class. ![]() ![]() From English Electric to English Eccentric.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lOCboGfJE8 Edited by Psychedelic Paul - April 08 2023 at 01:55 |

FINAL CONFLICT It's time to Redress the Balance with Final Conflict - a band from the second wave of Neo Prog who blow many of the established Neo Prog bands out of the water. In the continuing Quest to discover new prog, Final Conflict are a band whose albums all Stand Up to close scrutiny, and with the benefit of Hindsight and two outstanding singers, this amazing band sound even better than Marillion. There, I've said it! It's that pure and Simple. In Another Moment in Time, thirty years ago, the music of Final Conflict and Neo Prog in general completely passed me by, but I'm making up for lost time now and really loving this band. I hope you will too. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - April 09 2023 at 04:04 |

FISH With a name like Derek Willie Dick, it must have been hellish for Scottish singer Fish in the school playground, so is it any wonder he changed his name to Fish at the earliest opportunity!?? Apparently, he acquired the nickname "Fish" because he used to spend a lot of time in the bath and not because of his star sign (which is Taurus). Fish is more of an old trout these days, bless him, and Neo Prog fans will remember him best as the leader of Marillion, until a solo career beckoned and he became a Fish out of water - which heralded the beginning of Marillion's Hogarth Era. A well-known painting from the Hogarth Era. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - April 12 2023 at 00:34 |

Neo Prog Britannia SALLY FRENCH Not the name of a band, but a rare female solo artist in the Neo Prog sphere. She's been compared with Kate Bush, Maire Brennan (of Clannad) and Annie Haslam, amongst others, but Sally French sounds more like Sally Oldfield to my ears. Either way, she sallied forth with her debut album "The Other Side" on an independent Dutch label in 1994, although sadly, the album isn't currently available on YouTube. You can still hear the other side of Sally here though on her folky compilation album "Destiny", which sounds rather splendid upon first hearing, although nothing like Kate Bush. ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - April 10 2023 at 07:41 |

FROST* Jem Godfrey is the man behind the sound of Frost*, although he's probably best-known outside the progosphere for having once worked with Atomic Kitten and the X-Factor's Shayne Ward, but try not to hold that against him as they're now frozen out of his life forever, with Jem having decided to start recording some REAL music with a REAL band, albeit with some tongue-in-cheek album titles. So what's the deal with the Frosty* asterisk you may ask? Well, according to the band, it means either the music "is best served chilled" or this band "may contain nuts". ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - April 11 2023 at 11:44 |

THE FYREWORKS Remember, remember, the fifth of November. Founder member Danny Chang certainly does, where every night is Bonfire Night for this fiery Neo Prog band, so light the blue touch paper and stand well back because this band are a real blast! The Fyreworks also feature colourful Welsh keyboard player Rob Reed in one of his many side-projects, when he's not working with Magenta or Cyan. The incandescent flame of The Fyreworks has long since been extinguished, but they're still burning brightly over 25 years later at ProgArchives. ![]() ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - April 12 2023 at 11:50 |
