^ I know it because someone else had put this up in another Interactive Poll a while back. I don't remember the theme, but I remember it because I had not known it before, liked it a lot, and tried to see if it was on Amazon Music (it was not). But I found a good cover version, which resulted in a new artist in my collection.

^ Nice. That was John (Easy Money) in Interactive Poll XXVII: Collaborations Don't Work Wow, over two years ago, how time flies. I remember that that was one of the first to come to my mind then for the topic, but I opted not to mention it because I thought it might too obvious/well-known and, another person might was not to choose it (I knew what I wanted to nominate anyway, then, and in such cases I think it better to leave better known ones off if one knows one is not going to nominate it oneself to give a chance to others). Anyway, it is a great track, imo. Which cover version was that?

Cover version by the Unfolk Collective / Alessandro Monti.
Here's a link to a 'trailer' of the album with the cover. Parts of the cover are in the trailer. https://youtu.be/X48UwpwFut4 |

Something different. The comedy rock duo of Danny Sexbang (Dan Avida) and Ninja Brian (Brian Wecht), known as Ninja Sex Party with an epic fantasy tale. The Mystic Crystal.

You are posting some great stuff here, guys! The Easter holidays are round the corner and I'm not sure when I will be able to look for new material again, so I'm posting something now that might fit the group of better known artists/tracks. These girls are shooting stars of the current British indie scene and I guess that some of you may know them already. Maybe too many? I'll see what I can do. ^ Probably a number of people know Chaise Longue but hardly anything else? I've seen their Glastonbury performance, which was great, but haven't explored them further, and I'm not sure whether it's worthwhile to dig deeper.

@Christian
Thanks for the feedback! Well this side-category was actually intended for well-known acts that first come to mind, f.e. Greg's "Air" or Cristi's "Yazoo", things like that. I tend more towards contemporary stuff, and also I would like to have more female acts as well.
I could maybe suggest this Norwegian electronic act instead. They are well known in Europe but have been around for quite a while now. Last year they have released a series of three albums titled "Profound Mysteries". The series was released along with collections of short films, each by a different director, and animated visualisations for each track by an Australian artist and designer. For that project they also collaborated with various musicians incl. Alison Goldfrapp and Susanne Sundfor.- But on the other hand, I think that this would also fit well into the main category. Here’s a collaboration of two of my favourite artists (I mostly listen to modern female singer-songwriters these days), Chelsea Wolfe & Emma Ruth Rundle - "Anhedonia” from 2021.

Had a first run through the playlist and it was very enjoyable indeed. I'm afraid I won't have much time to comment, but if I can I will. Most of the famous duos put up here are well appreciated by me; the Wet Leg song did come by a lot on the radio here lately, but I cannot say it really convinces me...

Not a submission, but I came across this collaboration between Fred Frith and Hardy Fox:
A Day Hanging Dead Between Heaven And Earth (link to Bandcamp) I first discovered Fred Frith on a promotional sheet located inside a Residents album. Now we have a musical collaboration between Fred Frith and a Resident. Edited by I prophesy disaster - April 02 2023 at 20:38 |

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

INFO
Hi everybody, since we are still waiting for Lorenzo's submissions I would like to suggest that we start the nomination period next week after the Easter holidays. This will give you engough time to think about your nominations. Maybe those among you who have suggested more than 2 tracks for the main category (less known artists/tracks) and more than 1 track for the side cathegory (better known artists/tracks) could meanwhile make a preselection and thereby possibly get some feedback, or perhaps someone would like to suggest something else, etc. The participation in the side category is optional. In case there are new forumists who would like to join us, please read the description in my OP on the first page of this thread. Have a good time and see you soon!

I think one of the "less" should be replaced by "better".

Thanks, Christian! I was in a bit of a rush.- "Well known" and "better known" artists are of course relative terms in an international context. I thought about specifying that but finally decided to keep it simple.

So these three will be my nominations.
1. Boards of Canada - "The Beach at Redpoint' (from Geogaddi, 2002) 2. Cedric Victor & Jarboe - "Summoning Tigers in Dark Eden" (off the album Dark Consort from 2008). For a well-known act, but avoiding best known release: 3. Air - "Sex Born Poison" (off the much underrated 10,000 Hz Legend from 2001) The Air duo of Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel have enlisted others to help with the album but, as often happens with duos and solo artists, this is very much their project. I know that I have shared this before in at least one topic at PA and "Radian" off that album I have nominated before for an Interactive Poll. I do like having both Air and BoC being represented. EDIT: I replaced Chelsea Wolfe & Emma Ruth Rundle - "Anhedonia” (a single release from 2021) with a track from the Cedric Victor & Jarboe collaborative album, Dark Consort (their second collaborative album release). Thank you, Greg! A nice selection indeed. Is the song above part of a joint album or is it just a single? |

I had read your rules and I didn't expect that to be permitted. It was only released as a single.
It does count as an occasional duo, or one time duet for one song. Somehow I was thinking it might just possibly get past "the one album etc." lol I will choose another, and maybe one that is less gloomy (it's about depression). But maybe not much less gloomy. I changed my selection above. Edited by Logan - April 04 2023 at 22:25 |
