I like the '88 version of this piece the best. If I remember correctly, when The Zappa Band opened for King Crimson when I saw them in LA, they played this track. Very fun.

Working through all of these. Djam Karet in the car this morning. Nova Collective now. 

Some of these I knew pretty well already. Love Alan Holdsworth with Soft Machine, Mahavishnu, and Zappa though I don't know his later work as well as mid-70s. I know Dream Theater quite well and they are a little more metal than I'm looking for even though I like them for my personal listening.

Plenty more to delve into.

I saw them play in 2001. I could be wrong, but that may have been the last time they played together, but they're still friends. I hope they surprise us out of the blue someday with a third album.

(not the biggest fan of an instrumental-only-prog BUT) been digging through my neo-prog downloads from the mid-00s lately and while listening to this particular track I thought to myself "hey that could've been a Rush instrumental from the 80s". Glad to help then!

Super glad to know! My favorite cut off of that album is probably the one that reminds me most of YYZ, Ripped Apart and Reassembled. At least in spirit, if not in compositional similarity. It has that "fun" factor.
