I really liked "Svefn-g-englar" by Sigur Ros. It was very calming and I like that.
I really liked both of the Swans songs.
I liked the Ciśnienie songs.
I was in-between on the Art Zoyd songs.

Thank you for these suggestions! I will definitely look into the swans albums that those songs came from and Sigur Ros and Ciśnienie.

You are like the guys in the back seat of the car or the driver and not the ladies or the driver's passenger ;) LOL

Anyway, it's ok. He talks about a lot of other stuff too. If he does do one on Yes you can just not watch it.

I saw that you liked Anekdoten and Landberk.
So you should listen to Morte Macabre.

He has got more than 100 points, not posts. Not an issue, yet such things are important for some people.

THE IMPORTANT THING HERE IS... He/we are not one of you. You're a Special Collaborator!!! God knows how many times I've applied to YOU (the collaborators and admins) to get a title. But all are in vain... The hierarchy here is... inexorable.

Just kidding! TongueLOL

Me posting that video was kind of a joke too. ;)

Anyway, I hope you don't feel I'm being too hard on you. It's all meant to be in good fun. I remember back in the mid to late 90s (maybe 97) when I was in college and a guy I knew who was in one of my classes and myself were hanging out with one of  his friends in his apartment and his friend let me go through his album collection which consisted mostly of old 70s prog rock albums. This guy had the Canterbury stuff like Caravan, Hatfield and The North, Soft Machine, National Health, etc. He also  had Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, Genesis and I think ELP. I remember asking him why he didn't have any Yes and he said he didn't like them. I thought it was weird that this guy had just about every 70s prog album (well at least any one that was fairly well known) but no Yes. This guy seemed rather knowledgable too for the most part even though he didn't seem to know about Italian prog but this was the 90s and maybe he didn't start to look for prog online(especially newer prog or foreign prog) until a few years later. So you are not the only one. ;) I never try to convince people or change their minds. My grandmother (RIP) liked King Crimson and Genesis (early PG stuff I played for her) but she didn't like Yes. I think it was because she didn't like Jon Anderson's voice and I suspect that's the case for most people who like other similar stuff but not Yes.

PS I recommend checking out all those other bands I mentioned above (except Yes of course ;)).

Yeah, I don't like it because something just sounds off in the vocals. (at least that is the main reason)

Are there any albums by them with different vocals?

I listened to all of the bands I hadn't already heard a song/album of before that you mentioned:

I listened to the album "In the Land of the Grey and Pink" by Caravan and it was somewhat in-between for me.
I listened to some of the songs in "Hatfield And The North" by Hatfield And The North and it was also in-between.
I listened to some of the songs in "Third" by Soft Machine and they were also in-between.
I listened to some of the songs in "Of Queues and Cures" and there were also in-between.

They were all in-between!

Thank you for the recommendations!

^ The Drama album by Yes (from 1980) features a different singer (Trevor Horn) so I would suggest starting there. Some of their more recent stuff has another singer who is not Jon Anderson. His name is Jon Davison and he sang on their last two (almost three with a new one coming up). I don't recommend those because he sounds a lot like Jon Anderson who sang on most of their earlier work. However, Fly From Here has a different singer who also sounds a bit like Jon Anderson but he doesn't quite hit those high notes that put you off even though he does sound a bit like Jon A.

So to sum up I recommend listening to (on youtube I presume) Drama and Fly From Here. Start with Drama though and if you still don't like the vocals then don't bother with Fly From Here.

When you say that something is "in between" that does that mean you don't hate it but don't love it? It's ok but nothing more?

By the way, are you familiar with Rush? Geddy Lee's singing might be annoying to you also but you might be able to just listen to their instrumentals. Here you go. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeOEp3BD6Wn5mCdCRQAE46zpvbghkUNgl

I don't know if you're aware of this yet, but may I point you towards Discogs if you're getting into collecting but are on a budget? You can often find a lot of CDs surprisingly cheap (and LPs I guess), and you can buy exactly the version you want. Since I started using that site many years ago, collecting has been a lot easier/cheaper for me.

I actually made an account on there and started checking prices on there yesterday. It definitely looks really useful! I had been buying them from Amazon or a local store before.

In-between means that I don't like or dislike it (but it usually is still closer to like than dislike).

I listened to Drama and liked it. I listed to "Fly From Here" and also liked that.

I listened to the playlist of Rush instrumentals you sent and liked it.

^Ok. Now maybe it's time to listen to proper Rush songs or albums and see if the vocals rub you the wrong way like with Yes. Start with Moving Pictures by Rush and then if that's a green light for you then go to their page here and find the other highest rated albums and go from there. ;)
