One from the very early days of the site that still has no track times (and a rather poor biography too!): https://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=640.

1. Opening (3:09)
2. Keen City (12:15)
3. Full Moon (3:01)
4. Terminator (3:45)
5. Nautilus (5:31)
6. Five To The Bar (7:18)
7. Norfolk Broads (4:22)
8. Botree Bay (4:05)
9. Simple Melody (1:54)
10. Kinder Der Nacht (7:22)
11. Conclusion (2:34)
12. Good-Bye For Now (2:24)

Total time 57:40

CD  Ipso Facto Music - IPSCD 0040 (1997, Germany)

IVORY biography.

Formed as CARESSING HANDS, Munich, Germany in 1976

IVORY was a German symphonic prog/psychedelic/space rock band formed as 'CARESSING HANDS' in 1976 out of two Munich, Germany based student groups, PIPEDREAM and MY SOUND - primarily as the result of MY SOUND's keyboardist Thomas SOMMERLATTE introducing his father, Ulrich, to British progressive rock.

Ulrich SOMMERLATTE was born in 1914 in Berlin, and was the conductor of the Hannover Symphony Orchestra at the very young age of 22 before working for most of his career as a composer for film soundtracks and radio broadcasts. IVORY's story is made rather unique by Ulrich's relatively late arrival to the scene, as despite his long career as a composer, he was already in his mid-sixties when he formed the band with his son after listening to Thomas's classic 70's prog, and experimenting with its sound.

Along with Ulrich and Thomas on keyboards, the band's initial line-up (as CARESSING HANDS) also featured former PIPEDREAM members Horst POLLAND (guitar), Charly STECHL (bass) and Fredrik RITTMÜELLER (drums). Horst POLLAND was later replaced by Goddie DAUM on guitar, and with the subsequent addition of vocalist/guitarist Christian MAYER, the name was changed to IVORY. The band's debut album ''Sad Cypress'' was recorded in Ulrich SOMMERLATTE's Lyrock Studios, and released in 1980 on Jupiter Records.

Four further tracks were recorded between 1983 and 1987 by a slimmed down version of the band featuring Ulrich SOMMERLATTE and Christian MAYER with a new drummer, Thomas CARL. These recordings were included as bonus tracks on a Musea re-release of the album in 1993. A second album "Keen City" was released by Ipso Facto Music in 1997.

- E&O Team: Thanks, David, both bio and the album updated.

I'm confused. This entry is my own addition. But according to Discogs, it's an unofficial release. But then, why is it (or was it) available for sale on Burning Shed, which is a pretty legitimate store in my mind ?

So, should this this entry be deleted ? Confused

Updated track listing, line-up, and releases information for "Astral Man" by Nektar. I believe that the title should be changed to "Astral Man / Nelly the Elephant" as well.

In addition, the cover of the album should be changed from the promo version to the "regular release" version.

B. Nelly The Elephant (5:02)

Total Time 7:51

7" Promo Single:
A. Astral Man (Stereo) (2:49)
B. Astral Man (Mono) (2:49)

Total Time 5:38

Line-up:
- Roy Albrighton / guitar, lead vocals
- Allan "Taff" Freeman / keyboards, backing vocals
- Derek "Mo" Moore / bass, backing vocals
- Ron Howden / drums, percussion

With:
- Stephen Wick / tuba (1)
- Phil Brown / bass tuba (1)
- Butch Hudson / 1st trumpet (2)
- Ron Carthy / 2nd trumpet (2)
- Steve Gregory / tenor sax (2)
- Chris Mercer / baritone & tenor saxes (2)
- Chris Pyne / trombone (2)
- Chipping Norton Mandies Choir / chorus vocals (2)
- Bob Calvert / voice - ringmaster
- Dieter Dierks / effects

Releases Information:

Both tracks are from the album "Down to Earth" released in 1974.

I believe despite the same catalogue number these are 2 different singles.
So I've updated the current single and added one more with stereo and mono versions of "Astral Man".

As Mayer likes to say. Discogs is not a Bible. Smile And I agree with him.
From earlier discussions with admins, the decision is some album legal or not is often tough and a tricky thing.
After all, we are not lawyers specialised on copiright issues.

According to the same Discogs, Audio Vaults is not claimed as a pure pirate label.

I see 2 ways:
1. Leave it as it is unless someone will demand to delete the entry.
2. Discuss with admins should it live or die on PA.

^ For what it's worth, both Burning Shed and Progrock.co.uk have been selling this release, though Burning Shed are out of stock at the moment. Burning Shed also have the official 53-track, 5-CD BBC Broadcasts Boxset, which came out just a few weeks later, and Progrock.co.uk have it as a 3LP release as well as the 5CD version.

Burning Shed was established in 2001 by Tim Bowness, Peter Chilvers and Pete Morgan, and the company is now run by co-directors Tim Bowness and Pete Morgan. Progrock.co.uk is run by David Robinson, who also owns F2 Music Ltd (aka Festival Music), so both are reputable outlets.

An announcement that Burning Shed would be carrying the album appeared on Progrockjournal.com in mid December, and there didn't seem to be much negative reaction at that time.

That said, following the album's release people haven't been too impressed with it, as this thread on Steve Hoffman Music Forums from earlier this month shows, and the reviews on Amazon UK are a very mixed bag too.

Another strange thing is that the Audio Vaults reference for the album of AV201833 is identical to the one for their release of Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band's Transmissions 1967 - 1969. A bit unprofessional really, which only serves to add fuel to the fire regarding the debate about the legitimacy of some items of their catalogue.

It's also very strange that an album like this would be made available just a few weeks before the official BBC Broadcasts Boxset was released, suggesting that it was something that might have been rushed out unofficially to cash in on the hype surrounding that impending, and much more expensive, collection.

As you say - one for admins to chew over, I feel.

Hi Mayer, thanks for this update. So I changed the title and tracklist info for this entry, now it looks more like an album on its own rather than a compilation. I don't feel we need to do anything more. Do you agree?

They probably didn't realise exactly what it was that they would be selling in the first instance, but if you watch this review of the 2CD 'Watcher Of The Skies 1972' release on YouTube, you will hear that it's been out of stock at Burning Shed for well over a month now. I suspect that Burning Shed soon realised, once they'd received and examined the first batch of CDs, that it was a 'grey market' compilation, and once that first batch had gone they made sure they didn't reorder any!

Hi Mayer, thanks for this update. So I changed the title and tracklist info for this entry, now it looks more like an album on its own rather than a compilation. I don't feel we need to do anything more. Do you agree?

That's what the album was called before I persuaded Eugene to alter it to "Passage to the Forest of Mysterious & Birds" the other day - because that's what it's labelled as on Bandcamp, Just For Kicks, Musicbrainz, Progrock.co.uk, lots of other sites...and most of all, on Caerllysi Music, who are Antony Kalugin's main partners in the UK!

I accept that the release is comprised of two distinct albums, but as things stand at the moment they can only be bought as a 2CD package, so if Antony doesn't make them available to buy separately, then what are we supposed to do? Confused

I have a few things that can be cleaned up for what is probably the most complicated release of 2023. Confused

Firstly, "Birds Short Introduction (3:20)" is actually available on digital releases. I have attached a link to Spotify so you can see this.

Also, I believe it should be mentioned that the "Bonus CD" is actually just the "Birds" album.

Bonus CD from 2023 Limited Edition - Birds:
1. Birds (Part 1) (22:08)
2. Birds Piano Intermezzo (1:14)
3. Birds (Part 2) (7:09)
4. Birds (Part 3) (18:40)
5. The Day Is Done (2023 remastered version) (4:48)
6. Birds Short Introduction (3:20)
