Earlier today I was looking around online for prog I would like, and I saw some people saying that the Risk of Rain 2 soundtrack is prog rock. Risk of Rain 2 is a video game I have played for a while and I really love the sountrack. I looked but this soundtrack isn't in the archives.

This is a link to one of the songs (my personal favorite) in the soundtrack/album:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g89ozaj2SHo&ab_channel=ChrisChristodoulou

These are the links to the full albums/soundtracks:

Is this prog?

Yeah, IMO it's some kind of prog (based only on the individual song you posted the link to). There's that style of music "New Retro-Wave" (you'll find it if you search around on Bandcamp), which CAN be pretty proggy sometimes. I'm sure some people would slot it into some broad category like "Electronic Music" or something, but it's instrumental prog, IMO. I like the guitar (or synth guitar, I guess) - I could listen to sh*t like that for a while, just wailing away.

How would I go about trying to get it in the archives?

I think somewhat, yes maybe. At least there's similar music to find in the Progressive Electronic-section here. But from the short snippets of music I've heard so far, I wish the compositions were more developed, stretched out and worked with over time (which is kind of typical for prog). But maybe he does so on a complete album. I've only listened to these six-seven minutes in total so far.

You'd have to nominate the artist (Chris Christodoulou) by making a thread in this subforum. Be sure to include a photograph and a brief original biography, and to mention which specific subgenre you'd think would fit his music the best. Personally the song you posted sounds a little too close to synthwave, but then again there are already some artists in the Progressive Electronic category on this site who stray pretty close to that.

I probably won't do that because now that I think about it, I am not sure if it is prog, but thank you for that information.

If it wasn't made by Yes, Genesis or ELP then probably not.  Admittedly that won't stop it getting in Big smileWink

if you suggest it, the team in charge of progressive electronic will listen and decide if the artist is worthy of addition or not. I think you should suggest the artist, like Mirakaze said.
