In terms of the sleeves, VG to VG+. I skip any peeling, water damage, etc. Cut outs I don't mind. In terms of the vinyl itself, they play through with no issues. Depending on the age, there may be pops and hisses, but no skipping. Both places clean everything before putting it on the floor so visual issues are easy to see and they allow returns for skipping.

If to get an idea about how many Prog albums have been reissued on vinyl the last 10 years, a good place to look is here: https://www.discogs.com/seller/progwalker/profile?format=Vinyl&page=1 - and btw, it's a good, recommendable online seller of not used vinyl for North Americans. I buy from Greg direct, not thru Discogs.....There was a time probably 5-6yrs ago I was buying every other month from him. Then he went offline for awhile (can't remember why) and I came back but the past couple yrs I've not seen much I want from him. He for sure has a great selection.....

I've been thinking that street store prices are much influenced by online prices, but that may not be so true. |

Those two records are quite expensive in pretty good condition. I recently acquired a NM- copy of the OG Selling England by the Pound and let's say it was not $9

This has increased to 154. I realized that I have an extremely rare vinyl that is coveted by a lot of record collectors sitting in one of my boxes. It was actually the first vinyl I ever bought! https://www.discogs.com/release/1802421-Arzachel-Arzachel I actually had acquired this back when I was in High School, now I can't believe how much it is selling for!

My congratulations and anyway, I'm very happy with my records, and not least those which are originals or reissues released in the '70s and the first half of the '80s.

Do you have any preferences concerning type of releases, King of Loss?

I kind of buy them all, used and new, reissues and originals. There's no trend to which I am buying at the moment, except that it is a lot and at once.

My vinyl collection is quite a mixed bag as well, and I can be quite happy with the type of newer reissues and new-releases too, but surely most of those made in the '70s style, and that both concerning the (middle) weight of the vinyl and the (more slim) design of the covers - which I find to be cool and enviromentally correct, and something else is my clear preference of as far as possible analog productions. One thing more, I want the reissues just to be exactly like the originals regarding the tracks and artwork - nothing else...or sometimes I can prefer other artwork if I find it cooler. Due to all that plus some other reasons, I've actually chosen the last 10-15 years not so rarely, and the last 5 years quite often, a CD-release instead of vinyl.

I'm also very pleased with my reissues from the first half of the '90s, as they are made in the '70s style, and the sound quality is good, very probably all-analog.

But most of my records from the '70s are originals or reissues from the '70s.

Are you referring to DMM (Direct Metal Mastering)? If so I have many that are cut this way, the main drawback is the low end can suffer slightly or they can sound a bit bright. But if done right sound very good. Since they are cut direct to a copper plate you skip one of the steps so you can get a version with little to zero surface noise.

No, what I mean is the recording technique which also has been called "direct-to-disc". A quote from Wikipedia to describe it: "Direct-to-disc recording refers to sound recording methods that bypass the use of magnetic tape recording and record audio directly onto analog disc masters." ........... "To make a direct-to-disc recording, musicians would typically play one 15-minute "live" set in a recording studio per LP side using professional audio equipment. The recording was made without multitrack recording and without overdubs. The performance was carefully engineered and mixed live in stereophonic sound. During the performance, the analog disc cutting head engages the master lacquer from which sides of an LP record are ultimately derived and is not stopped until the entire side is complete." (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct-to-disc_recording)
