Well it’s Wednesday and the car is going in for an inspection on a banging noise in the rear wheel arch. So we’re going to take it then walk home. Until the call goes through to see if it needs any further work done on it. Eeks! I hope not.

Well I’m not sure what the problem was this morning and early afternoon but. Didn’t do anything. Plus I have only watched one episode of A Touch Of Frost and now just getting around to answering emails and looking at a few posts here. Then I’m going to call it quits for tonight so. Goodnight everyone…

A new musician that. I discovered by accident on Bandcamp.
Neil Cowley London, UK
Neil Cowley has embraced a new musical direction (since the Neil Cowley Trio disbanded), incorporating electronic, ambient and neo-classical production.
Battery Life:
My new album Battery Life will be released in March.   It is a record of abstract memories and stolen excerpts. It is my perception of the past before the detail is filled in.   Blurred pictures, strange details, a feeling, a smell and above all the freedom to redefine the past at my whim.   In an age where we are able to archive virtually any amount of life experience at the press of a button, it calls into question the value of a memory, both undetailed and detailed.
Hall of Mirrors:
Neil Cowley is set to release his first solo album ‘Hall Of Mirrors’. A highly personal account of his relationship with his old friend the piano; the album merges sounds and influences from ambient, electronic, improvisational and contemporary classical music on an emotive journey of artistic exploration, reinvention and renewal.   Release date: 05/03/21.

Mike Oldfield - Incantations
The Nice - The Best Of The Nice
Vangelis - Beaubourg
Jean Michel Jarre - Oxygene
All on vinyl then I watched an episode of A Touch Of Frost and now I’m catching up with my emails and social media accounts.

Canterbury Sound Bands:

Zopp Nottingham, UK:
Zopp:
released April 10, 2020 Ryan Stevenson: Keyboards, Mellotron M4000D, Hammond organ, Arturia analogue synthesizer, Korg CX-3 organ, piano, Hohner Pianet T, Nord Electro 5d, bass and electric guitars, voice, field recordings, percussion. Andrea Moneta: Drums and percussion.   with: Andy Tillison: Additional piano (6), additional Hammond organ (3), Leslie processing (2, 5, 6), synth (4), effects (3, 9). Theo Travis: Flute (6). Caroline Joy Clarke: Voice (1, 7, 8). Mike Benson: Tenor saxophone (9).   Drum recording engineering: Andrea Moneta. Engineered, co-produced and mastered by Andy Tillison. Mixed, written and produced by Ryan Stevenson.
Dominion:
ZOPP RETURNS! British progressive rock act, ZOPP, return with their sophomore album ‘DOMINION’, the follow up to their award-winning* self titled album, released in 2020.   ‘Dominion’ showcases a clear progression in the sound of Zopp resulting in an epic 42 minute journey spanning avant-garde, jazz, ambient, folk, psychedelic rock and endless heaps of PROG.   Ryan W Stevenson, the man behind Zopp (composer, mixer, producer, performer… heck, basically everything but the drums which have once again been masterfully performed by Leviathan’s Andrea Moneta) recorded the album at his home studio located in the suburbs of Nottingham, UK, over the past 3 years.   To those who have been following Zopp from its inception, there’s one major difference you will notice this time round - there are vocals! Moving on from the instrumental Canterbury Scene infused neo-prog of the first album, Zopp now evolves into a form more reminiscent of Marillion or Yes and yet creates a new, unique and instantly identifiable sound that sets them apart from the rest of the progressive music scene.   Purists, do not worry! Zopp’s fuzzed organ and technical playing style remains present, yet matured. ‘I think it’s more bombastic than the first album.’ States Ryan, ‘Writing a 14 minute progressive piece like ‘Toxicity’ where the song continuously flows was a challenge, but a successful experiment nevertheless. It’s important for me to throw all sorts of elements into the mix, from varied sources of music that are inspiring to me. I’ve really been into bands like King Gizzard and Tame Impala the last few years; not only their psychedelic sound, but also their DIY, independent approach to making music.’   ‘DOMINION’ is to be self-released on February 3rd 2023 via their own imprint, Flat Circle Records.

Nothing to interesting happening here over the last few days. That’s the reason why I haven’t had any posts to share with yous. Have been listening, looking for music on “Bandcamp” found some musicians that have warranted adding to my collection on my “WishList” to purchase them or have another listen to. As wasn’t sure if I’d like them or not.

Well over the weekend we had my sister-in-law visiting so didn’t have much time for the usual activities. I did have a couple of listening sessions on Bandcamp and added a few more new musicians to my collection. So it’s now Monday and it’s a mmm sort of day so far. I’m hoping that it will be a bit more productive in the music portion than the weekend and possibly add more movies and television series too.

Fish Basket:
Fish Basket consists of three self-taught musicians, three instruments and music that captivates the world of imagination. The guitar leads a colorful narrative, bass watches over the changes of mood, and the pace of the action is given by the drums. There is no place for words here, this is playing directly with the emotions of the audience.

Thumpermonkey London, UK:
A person in space, walking, or adrift, but safe, exploring, freedom, discovery. A clockwork piano contraption, like a giant ballerina box, but turning a big totem pole, around which smart office dressed people slowly dance with dead glazed eyes as a slightly out of tune slow Satie-like Lydian melody loops round. Woadscrivened 05:58 About this album The voice of the genius was heard again:   “See, O mortal, what the efforts of man can accomplish. He has known how to employ the forces of nature, and prosperity has promptly taken the place of desolation. I shall reveal to thee the secret of the power of this people. Science has made them free. They live comfortably to the laws of reason. Impregnated with all noble ideas, they have become the most civilised people on earth. They have known how to avail themselves of the greatest force of the universe – electricity. This has increased the forces of man a hundredfold. This small corner of Asia shows thee what later on the surface of the globe will become.”   From ‘Babylon Electrified’ - recounted by Albert Bleunard (1889). So begins this lost tale of human misadventure; the story of Victorian MP and visionary Lord James Badger, who, under divine instruction almost two hundred years ago, set out to conquer nature and “restore” the civilisations of Mesopotamia with the new power of Electricity. ...fast-forward 140 years... ...to a chance encounter with an illustration from Bleunard’s forgotten book, preserved in the digital archives of The British Library. It beguiles and intrigues our own modern explorer and musical adventurer, Michael Woodman, who has stumbled across it quite by chance while looking for his own spark of inspiration. In the image, a pith-helmeted Englishman is atomized by technology he hoped would transform the canals of the Euphrates, all because he followed the instructions of an angelic visitation. In this promethean moment, Michael and his accomplices in Thumpermonkey are irresistibly propelled forward on their own epic musical journey, The theme of the songs that make up Thumpermonkey's new EP 'Electricity' echoes that of the distant past - the luminous magnificence of human foolishness. Pith helmets remain optional. Little else has changed.

Have you ever thought about how really heavy psychedelic, trance inducing rock music should sound like? Godzilla In The Kitchen is a three-piece instrumental rock band from Germany.
