We are now sadly winking goodbye to the great Burt Bacharach but also Burt lived a long and good life. One of the great contributers to the great American Song Book. The amount of songs he have writen whom is part of the wider popular music landscape is wide and prosperous

Honestly i didn't even know he was still alive!

Great songwriter for sure.

Brings that loungy 60s scene to mind effectively.

Love this song although it's more famously done by Tom Jones

Definitely one of the two or three most influential songcrafters instrumental to the formation of my musical "hardwiring". Perhaps the reason why melodies, major 7th chords, and vocalise are so important to me.

Don't bother waiting for the Burt Bacharach replacement to appear.  After his birth they broke the mold. R.I.P.

An iconic name I remember from my early youth. The songs are equally iconic. RIP.

I'm very sorry to hear. Been on a Dionne Warwick kick the past few years and her versions of the Bacharach/David songs hit differently than anyone else's.

A musical giant. Underneath the easy listening lounge ambience were enough key changes, time changes and tricky chords to satisfy the definition of prog; somehow he made it sound effortless.
'Like so many of you
I've got my doubts about how much to contribute
to the already rich among us...'

Same here. Dionne's versions are my go to version in nine or at least eight out of ten times. A lot of his compostions and arrangements excite me much like a Gentle Giant-song does, but I can't play Gentle Giant in the background while having friends or family over for dinner etc, so thank heavens for Bacharach/David wondrously complex easy listening. Whatever I'm a fan of, I usually got some obscure deep cut-favorites, but in this regard I actually think most of the the hits are among the strongest, and If I were to make a top 20, it would look something like:

Anyone Who Had A Heart (Dionne Warwick)
Walk On By (Dionne Warwick)
Do You Know The Way To San José (Dionne Warwick)
(They Long To Be) Close To You (The Carpenters)
Wishin' and Hopin' (Dusty Springfield)
Trains and Boats and Planes (Billy J Kramer & The Dakotas)
I'll Never Fall In Love Again (Dionne Warwick)
Baby, Its You (The Shirelles)
I Say A Little Prayer (Dionne Warwick)
Blue on Blue (Gals and Pals)
My Little Red Book (Love)
Make it Easy on Yourself (The Walker Brothers)
The Look of Love (Dusty Springfield)
Paper Mache (Dionne Warwick))
You'll Never Get to Heaven (Dionne Warwick)
Don't Go Breaking My Heart (Burt Bacharach)
Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head (B.J. Thomas)
(There's) Always Something There to Remind Me (Dionne Warwick)
Nikki (Burt Bacharach Orchestra & Chorus)
One Less Bell to Answer (The Fifth Dimension)

Burt Bacharach was a fine writer of Pop Music. It's a shame that he influenced South Jersey Cover Bands in all the wrong ways.

It's disgraceful that South Jersey Cover Bands apply his genius to their back in the woods agenda.

The two should be divided by laws. Clean it up!
