Absolutely. DSD or D0P (packets of data ) must be converted to PCM for sound editing. To my understanding as well. Even when a vinyl gets ripped onto a standard cd about 3 to 4 DB of noise is in that transfer. Now some may say that you don’t need to care about stuff like that because it is inaudible, but I disagree. It matters. |

A great thread at Hoffman Forums........Steve Hoffman discussing the mastering process for records, how he cut records and some of the process he focuses on. Albums I have by Steve Hoffman are fantastic, specifically Fleetwood Mac Rumours, he and Kevin Gray did an amazing job on that one.
Enjoy

In another note, I commissioned a set of spy balloons to be sent to my local record stores to see what they have on sale!

Man I have always loved this record, still do. After I heard Lovedrive in late 70s I started buying all the back catalog. At the time in Tower Records import section I could never find Lonesome Crow, this one came out in 1980 on Brain.......It's a great pressing, extremely dynamic, after all these years still plays easily NM++

I have to admit to not really knowing much of the Scorpions music, other than No One Like You. But if José is listening to it then I better pay attention. So I just finished listening to the whole album and really enjoyed it. Reminded me a little of the Grand Funk era of heavy rock. What other titles have this feel that you would recommend?

I like Lonesome Crow very much, but it's the only one of Scorpions' I'd recommend.

But another German album which reminds me of Lonesome Crow, and also from 1972, is Electric Sandwich's selftitled debut album.

Oh the Scorpions are worth exploring. You see. I loved early UFO, so Michael Schenker on guitar? Count me in. And holy sh*t can Klaus sing!! |

I have both Love at First Sting & Savage Amusement on LP, but I got them in an auction with a bunch of other albums I wanted and have never really given them a listen. They are in mint condition so I guess I'll have to dig in.
