I see the cover art for Scott Walker's Bish Bosch failed to load. Could a mod upload this replacement instead?

Thank you. As noted in a prior post, I've been getting error messages whenever I attempt to access the Update Cover Art section and conduct a search.

I've just updated 25 entries with "- Name / guitars - Name / drums" and other text in the musicians field. That was pretty easy and fast. Smile

But there is still 315 entries with only "- Name / guitars - Name / drums" in the musicians field. I think this is something we could fix together, do you agree? Out of the 315 entries, there are 107 compilations. I can take care of those by mentioning "See respective albums" (and double-checking other stuff, as always). But do you want to look at the other 208 entries? It may be a nice teamwork.

By the way, I forgot to mention in my last update that ALL entries from #70000 onwards were checked and updated if needed. That's something cool I think. It means that we have to work on older entries, not the new ones (because I take care of those, LOL!)

^ It's certainly got to be worth thinking about, but I think Eugene needs to give his thumbs up first - both for the updating of the "Name / guitars" text in the 'Musicians' section of all the 107 compilation albums with "See line-ups of respective albums" and also the idea of taking on the other 208 entries as a team effort, since that would still potentially be quite a big task. I'd certainly be willing to help out though if he agrees. If you are spotting all the flawed new entries and fixing them as soon as they appear, then once those 208 albums were dealt with, that one particular problem should be eliminated from the database completely. Smile

One of the original 'Name / guitars' albums from the January 2021 list which has been amended since then with "- Instrumentation could not be verified at this time. If you have information, please contact the site.": https://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=3288.

The album consists of live and studio recordings on various locations between 1972 and 1981, and both Bandcamp and Discogs give us this actual line up, which could now be added in:

- Stefan Fredin / bass guitar, vocals
- Dag Lundquist / drums, vocals
- Robert Zima / vocals
- Christer Åkerberg / guitars
- Mats Lindberg / keyboards, saxophone
- Dag Kronlund / piano

Another album from that original list which still needs some help: https://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=3138.

Discogs doesn't agree with the track running order that we currently have, and the image of the back cover confirms their version. Their page also has the timings - again confirmed on the back cover:

1. Golf Girl (4:36)
2. This Time (5:16)
3. Hello Hello (3:22)
4. Cool Water (4:03)
5. Don't Want Love (6:47)
6. In The Land Of Grey & Pink (3:41)
7. Headloss (4:53)
8. Nine Feet Underground (17:35)
9. To The Land Of My Fathers (4:53)
10. Asforteri (2:32)
11. If I Could Do It All Over Again (3:30)

Total time 61:08

Tracks 7 and 8 were recorded in concert at the London Astoria.

I'll let you decide what text to enter in the 'Line-up / Musicians' section though, since there may be different line ups involved. I guess it could be worked out with a bit of time spent looking back at the various albums the tracks were taken from, but it's probably easiest to just use Eugene's "See line-ups of respective albums" as a quick and easy fix.

Note: Easy Livin's review of the album could do with a bit of help too lol! The first two paragraphs have many spurious â? and â?? characters where there should be inverted commas. Ermm

Edit: This was the line up for the 1997 Astoria concert that tracks 7 & 8 were recorded at:

- Jim Leverton / bass, vocals
- Richard Coughlan / drums
- Pye Hastings / guitar, vocals
- David Sinclair / keyboards
- Doug Boyle / lead guitar
- Simon Bentall / percussion
- Geoffrey Richardson / viola, flute, mandolin, spoons

Our page for that album (Live From The Astoria - Canterbury Comes To London) is missing Simon Bentall in the credits, and could really do with the title editing to match the album cover.

Releases information is a bit sparse too - it just says 'Transatlantic'. Discogs has this:

CD HTD Records - HTD CD 79 (UK, 1997)
CD Reissue Transatlantic Records - TRACD 302 (UK, 1997)
CD Reissue HTD Records - TRACD 302 (UK, 1997)
CD Belle Antique - MAR-98426 (Japan, 1998)
CD HTD Records - HTD CD 79 (Japan, 1998)

^ Thanks Bruno, but what is your source?

I've just updated the album with these timings from Youtube.

Your suggestion seems incomplete. Only 9 tracks?

Thanks David, both entries updated. I'm afraid I can't do anything with reviews. Only admins have access to them.

^ Let's hope an admin passes by, spots this problem, and fixes it then. It's a shame that a review gets spoilt in this way by an all too common glitch that occurs (or at least used to occur) with the uploading of text containing inverted commas to both album reviews and band biographies in the main area of the site.

Tricantropus - 'Scrum': http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=56420.

Total time is included, but not individual track times:

1. Scrum (6:48)
2. Hojas Muertas (7:06)
3. Crystal Tears (1:51)
4. Pick And Roll (3:48)
5. La Cascada De Sua (1:36)
6. Sola (4:35)
7. Bosque Viejo (5:29)
8. Tontakiu Style (1:08)
9. La Mediomelé (2:54)
10. Warning... Estamos Flotando En El Espacio (5:31)
11. El Año Del Dragón (6:42)
12. Scrum (Reprise) (1:49)

Total time 49:17

Releases information could do with updating too. It currently says Label: Autoeditado, whereas it is actually a self-released CD, or 'Not On Label', which would be another option.

There was a spate of this Autoeditado (or something similar) 'label' being used on discogs back around the time of this album's release. See this thread: https://www.discogs.com/forum/thread/715158. It's the Spanish way of saying 'self-published', but shouldn't really be used on English language websites.

According to Discogs the release date was December 25, 2017, not December 15th, but I couldn't confirm either as being definitely correct. The band reported some problems with the distribution of this album on facebook in late November 2017, so it might be worth just saying December 2017 instead of giving an exact date.

Now, one other thing about this band.

They were suggested for inclusion here in Symphonic Prog back in June 2008, but were rejected and placed in Prog Related, despite Iván saying that his team believed they were prog and deserved to be here, the best place being Eclectic, or maybe Crossover.

Pretty much every where else I looked on the Internet the band is described as Symphonic Prog, and I listened to some of their stuff. NO WAY is this only prog related material! It's pure prog, very much in the vein of Camel, who we also have here in Symphonic Prog.

Anderson/Stolt were also erroneously placed in Prog Related back in 2016, but after carlmarx38 raised the issue in this thread back in July of that year, they were moved to where they really belonged in Symphonic Prog.

Symphonic Prog was historically a very difficult sub genre indeed to get approval for, but things have changed somewhat in more recent times, and Prog Related, whilst being quite widely used for artists back in the site's early days, is now only used as a (seemingly much maligned) 'last resort' when a really strong case exists for inclusion of a band or artist here and they don't obviously fit in any of the 'proper' subs.

I really think this is a case of an opportunity existing to get rid of one of these often frowned upon Prog Related entries, and move the band concerned to the sub genre where they really belong - in this case Symphonic Prog.

Edit: There's another album with "Autoeditado" in the Releases information section here which should perhaps be edited to say Self-released instead - with perhaps the addition of the fact that it was released on both vinyl and in digital format (bandcamp).

It was apparently a limited edition (300) on white vinyl, with mirror-like gatefold sleeve. See https://www.discogs.com/release/5455642-Schwarz-Esp%C3%ADritus-Del-Desierto-Yo-Os-Invoco.

I didn't find any other cases of "Autoeditado" in the Releases information sections using Google as a search engine, but maybe Julien should run his 'tool' over the database again to see if any others are lurking away somewhere lol! LOL

^ Thanks David, all entries fixed.

My tool didn't find any other "Autoeditado" or something similar in the releases information field anywhere. Thumbs Up

About the prog subgenre, I'm not an expert. But I've been listening to the first half of the last Tricantropus album (Scrum) and this in not symphonic to my ears. I would called this something like "Groovy Prog"... Embarrassed Pretty straightforward. I don't mean it's bad, but nothing grandiose like old-school Genesis or Flower Kings.

Anyway, if you really want to discuss about a subgenre modification, you may want to contact the appropriate genre team.

^ I'm not an expert in sub genres either - far from it in fact! If you feel that the music of Tricantropus is pretty straightforward, and that the band is OK where it is in Prog Related, then I'm happy to let the matter rest. I guess much of Camel's music is pretty straightforward too when you compare it to old-school Genesis and Flower Kings material. Embarrassed

Edit: I guess retired admin Dean summed up the position regarding Prog Related very well in February 2013, when he said: "Unfortunately looking at who is already here is not a good indicator because some of those artists were added for all the wrong reasons a long time ago: some of them could be moved into other subgenres and some could be ejected from the the site completely - but they're here and the world hasn't fallen off its axis so there is no milk soaking into life's table cloth to cry over"LOL

Updated track listing and releases information for "The Masters" by Van Der Graaf Generator. I believe some information under track listing should be moved to releases information, and the album should be moved to "compilation" rather than "Singles/EPs/Fan Club/Promo".

1. Saigon Roulette (4:43)
2. Gentlemen Prefer Blues (2:58)
3. Tropic of Conversation (7:19)
4. Tarzan (2:13)
5. Rift Valley (4:41)
6. The Liquidator (5:27)
7. Coil Night (4:15)
8. Roncevaux (6:55)
9. It All Went Red (4:00)
10. Faint and Forsaken (2:55)

Total Time: 44:26

Releases Information:
CD Eagle Records - EAB CD 085, Eagle Records - GAS 0000085 EAB (Europe, 1998)

From the album:
- Jackson, Banton, Evans: Gentlemen Prefer Blues (1,2,3)
- Van Der Graaf Generator: Time Vaults (4-10)

Rick Wakeman – 20th Anniversary (Limited Edition): https://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=4614.

Features tracks from four albums. Three of them have a long list of guest musicians, so the best way to fix this one would be to do as Eugene suggested and write "See line-ups of respective albums" where we currently have "- Name / guitars" & "- Name / drums".

Discogs has a breakdown of which albums the 23 tracks are taken from, which could also be added to our page, along with some other useful info (Limited to 4000 copies 4CD box issue specially for 20th anniversary of Rick Wakeman's music career). Both discogs and RYM say 1988 for the year of release, whereas we currently have 1989.

Edit: It was definitely released in 1988. I looked at Rick Wakeman CBE's Place page for it, where the date is given and Rick talks about the release:

"I remember this well. I asked A&M if they would like to do something special for my 20th anniversary tour and they came up with this, which is a poorly packaged 4 CD set with little or no information on board and a cover that could have been done better by a 3 year old. To add insult to injury they pressed up just 4,000 copies which now means they are ridiculously collectable - for no other reason than there just aren't very many!

An expensively cheap product for a cheap thinking company. Need I say more?"

Little Known Trivia:

"A&M never even sent me a copy. I had to buy mine from a dealer!"

LOL
