I don't use the app for anything. But I do have a number of LP's I'm currently considering buying.
Mostly on my phone I search cat#'s for release info.

Discogs is exceptionel good to look for release informations and as a buying place. I've bought a lot there the last 12 years, but in the recent years, I noticed some more overgrading.
Most of it is over graded, I only look for NM copies and I expect VG+ to arrive. But I also offer much lower prices than they ask, it's rare I pay what they want. If they don't take my offer normally I walk.....
I have bought M sealed as well.
Ditto ! And when the true NM arrives, I cream my jeans.

Did anyone ever use Reverb before they stopped? Was there a law suit with Discogs or something?

I use the app when in stores cause sometimes I can't remember if I have an album or not, so I'll check my collection. As well I will look up a particular version to see what people say about its quality.
For new records I will scan the barcode and read what people say regarding sound quality.

Pretty handy for me...
Ok, I'm officially old. I just e-mail myself my excel workbook and I have all the details of my collection I need, including what I paid for used LP's, rough average replacement value, media and jacket condition, cuts/drills/punches, inserts. Just 5 years ago I used to carry a paper copy when I went shopping. LOL
So your that dude with a binder of excel sheets in the stores!! LOL I also use the price data base to make sure I'm not over paying. I will actually call out a record store if they are pricing a VG+ record at a NM/High Discogs value...

Had a satisfying record store jaunt on my lunch break today. One of those trips where I go with specific things in mind (today, particularly focusing on 70s stuff I always ignored) and bypass the usual self control filters that invariably shave a few records off my initial pile. I came, I saw, I bought.   I bought 5 Manfred Mann’s Earth Band albums I’ve never heard before, among other things. Always liked the 2 albums I had, and decided today to go all-in.

Does that mean we won't be able to buy through them anymore?

VinylHub is on the app, I think it is just a map of stores in all countries. I use it when I travel, find record stores....that suxs if true I've not seen any email/msg.
I never use that feature anyway. I don’t travel much and when I do I’ve always used Google.
Use my Discogs app all the time. My whole collection is finally saved there as of a couple of months ago, and I use it to buy stuff fairly often too.

My last vinyl purchase was expensive but great, and still is

which I got as the original German release from 1989.
But frankly speaking, it's still some challenge for me to listen to it. Big smile

Store purchases have certainly some advantages, even it can be difficult to control oneself. Smile

To be more exact, my present, very exclusive collection consists of about 320 LPs and 130 CDs; 441 albums from 330 artists
coming from 42 different countries around the world - only "pearls" but really many different styles. Tongue

I'm planning a trip to New York City, hopefully in late May, to see a Colbert show.
Anyone have any suggestions on good record stores to investigate in the downtown core?

Oh jeez, I think there are a gazillion.......I want to go just to hit the Jazz Record Center. Try using the VinylHub before it shuts down.....I think from Manhattan to south tip there are 20-25 stores showing.

Oh I have no doubt there are tons of them, I was just curious if anyone had specific suggestions maybe based on firsthand experience. You know, better inventories, better customer service, best pricing, that  sort of thing.
There's no way Mrs JD will last more than maybe two store visits in a day. I may have two days available so I wanted to be prepared.

I don't even know other places, it could be good to ask about that.

This is a very well made documentary, maybe you all know about this one already. Wife and I watched it couple weeks ago, very enjoyable. She really digs this guy's attitude which I have to agree, he's very mild mannered and conscience of other people...."we enjoy records and music so your my friend..."

I think he hits a few NYC stores...

greatist? Big smile  as it's from many artists but at the same time much what is considered to be the best artists and their best works.

Actually, paying almost 100 dollars, when including the shipment, this is my most expensive purchase so far - but I like
to have the original, and don't like the new release.

And now I've seen that the new release would be almost as expensive to get as my original, which was graded NM/NM,
and the vinyl plays very clean while the cover was only a little bit overgraded due to some creases, which may even be
from the shipment.
