I'm trying to find out which TT I had in the '70s. I think, it was similar to Lenco but lower price. Any suggestions?

Like a rabid dog I just can't let go of that bone !

Here's yet another iteration of my NEC system from the early 90's.

Plus two released in the '70s and bought in early '80s. Big smile

Here's the last set up (late 90's) before I landed on the one I have now. A Marantz integrated amp after the NEC bought the farm.

The Marantz looks nice, and so do your kid.

I used them on the road and in the studio.

No problem.....actually not that many considering. Back around mid 80s around 1200 LPs. Then when we started to move around the country for different jobs I lost probably 2/3 due to "lost" boxes. Which I chalked up to theft, of course moving companies back then all they did was reimburse you for lost boxes. Who know they may been lost in all the shuffle. But I doubt it.....

I took a position to only buy what I really wanted to listen to rather than become a "collector" again.......Right now I sit around 800 LPs. And about 300 CDs, which I got rid of a lot of CDs in the late 90's early 00's they just sounded like krapp and I never listened to them anyways.

I'm much happier with my collection now.

Nakamichi? Big smile
I got a cassette deck from Goodwill for $7 last year. I don’t use it much, but it works.
I used to be more cassette-intensive (back in the Phish show trading days) but that deck passed away years ago.
Nahhh, $3K is nutz for one of those......I can never find anything decent at Goodwill. I'll find one eventually.

Well you can't turn the clock back, but you can use eBay, Discogs and crate digging at record stores and you can find LPs from 70's. Problem is you might end up buying several copies to find the better condition and sounding ones. It's hard to tell sound quality from just looking. Some stores I go to have listening stations to test them.

About your son, something quite the same with my daughter.

But I'm sure, she could learn it. She has very good sense and fondness of technical stuff, and some fondness of music too. Big smile

All of you guys have more than me. I'm sitting on 133 now, but I also have some years catching up. I'm in my early 30s, so I hope to have 1,000 soon! Big smile

Already in the '90s, I bought on vinyl all the albums from my '70s-collection I wanted to have again and much more. They were very cheap to buy at that time, and many of them as entirely new. Tongue

I'd do a lot of thinking when buying vinyl today, because especially the used ones have become very expensive, and not least if they have to be sent.

So many records......no time to listen!! LOL Part of me is in this mood, when I'm buying now. Back in the day I bought to have the record and spun it maybe 2-3x a year.....Today I buy because I plan to spin it often, if not I leave it in the bin.

1,000 records x 45min = 45,000 min ÷ 60 min = 750 hours ÷ 3 hrs (time per day to listen, not realistic) = 250 days to listen to your whole collection once. I don't spin records everyday.......

Just a thought Big smile

Well, I have something like 320 LPs, and that, together with 130 CDs, is about what I need to be happy - even I'm a big music aficionado and not so little of a "collector". Smile
