Now I can envy you, as I in the '70s got rid of the about 30 first records I had got except from two. Cry

But I still have the very first one, Polish bought in Poland where I lived until I was 15. Big smile

It's Czeslaw Niemen's Enigmatic, and in fact, it's even Prog, and maybe full-blown even it's released January 1970.

Edit:
Or I guess, it's not full-blown.

So, how many of your LPs from the '70s do you still have, JD?

My collection peaked at around 1100 back in the early 80's when CD's hit. I've told this story before...like many, I started buying CD's by replacing my most favourite and most listened to LP's first as they became available. I was living in Downsview (North End of Toronto) and making good money. I was working nights and quite often would come home, shower, jump on the subway and head downtown to Sam's, Records On Wheels and A&M records on Young St. to fuel my musical habit.
If the CD had the same packaging as the LP (pictures/lyrics etc.) I tended to trade them in to buy more CD's. I did that for about 150 albums before I stopped. I still kick myself for that as many really were NM condition. So ELP, Yes, King Crimson, Kraftwerk, ELO, Alice Cooper and the like were lost to the trade-in market. In recent years I've been rebuying some of them and my current LP collection stands at 1132. My CD collection is 1300. Those are all original store bought, not CDR's.

^Okay, but 150 are still a small part of all the LPs you've had while in my case, I had bought and recorded mostly cassettes
until 1988 when I became audiophile and vinyl freak.

It's never too late to begin my friend. My son has already said he wants to inherit my collection, even though he doesn't listen to or, quite frankly, even know how to handle LP's and work a turntable.
Today's youth...what are ya gonna do?

I got a cassette deck from Goodwill for $7 last year. I don’t use it much, but it works.
I used to be more cassette-intensive (back in the Phish show trading days) but that deck passed away years ago.

It's just that I'd like to have more LPs bought in the '70s, especially of those I got - I have only 4. Unhappy

About your son, something quite the same with my daughter.
