If it is, indeed, done, it can always come back another time. It had an incredibly long run and was a much more interesting poll than the usual ones. Thank you always, Lorenzo, for the brilliant idea.

Yes, I hope it just paused, because these polls are for me one of the most interesting parts of PA. But, as I said before, I've not much time at hand, especially during the week, which makes my presence here rather intermittently (which clearly is the case for others too...). If/when I have an idea for a new poll - and some time - I will not hesitate to bring it forward.

Agree with the above. These polls fun, interesting, and a great reminder of all the wonderful music I don't know. I have just been busier than usual lately, and my slow participation of late (still have to vote in the live poll) is not a reflection of the polls themselves

I confess that the suspension of the interactive polls causes me a certain sadness, a feeling of loss... when I put myself at my computer in the evening or at night, it comes naturally to me to go to progarchives to see the interactive polls, and now that they have stopped, I feel a sense of loss, like when one no longer has a home to return to... it's true that progarchives is still there and that I have more time to do other discussions on the site, which in fact I have mainly exploited in the 'General Music Discussions' section over the last few years, but every time I come here I still have the reflex to look for interactive polls, as if I had an appointment, and I still don't resign myself to considering myself free, without this appointment. |

You picked The Doors' 'The End' as a mascot for a poll titled 'Live Again', no wonder things went downhill . . But seriously Lorenzo, your
initial idea of the current poll was to limit listening time but then, out of the blue you doubled
it instead! And now you are surprised that people don't vote? At the very beginning you had even this time-consuming voting procedure in mind, although experience had shown that this was not popular. And btw. do you remember that at the end of the previous poll Malcom/Tigerfeet came back with the intention to join the next, that is the current poll and Cristi also showed some interest? Obviously they were not thrilled about the concept of your poll. Sure, there are also other reasons why the number of participants has decreased over time, but that's all the more reason to make sure that the remaining participants stick with the IA-polls. Sinking into despair and self-pity, won't get us anywhere. So, let's try a fresh start after the holidays, with enthusiasm but also with all these insights in mind! Adding my reply from the poll.
Kees has nailed the idea. With a theme. And in particular fir the one I am thinking of, contempory chamber music/ chamber rock based on a recent thread started by Negoba. I would use Logan's YouTube thread idea of asking to post one video at a time. Person can post more than once. Try not to repeat artists. I use the poll structure to list the music but voting is optional. This can be done with any theme. I only chose chamber music because of the recent thread and personal interest. This should be more casual and the theme would draw some who participate in the Intereactive Polls and some who do not. So, it could run separate to a "true" Interactive Poll. |

I had some ideas at some point: - great songs on not so good albums (we could do a prog round and a non-prog round) - great songs on debut albums (again, we could do a prog round and a non-prog round) - use of folklore in rock/jazz/metal/classical music and so on - Fun round: great songs from the 80s (songs that make you say "the 80s did not suck!" ). |

^ and ^^ Sounds all good to me! My IA poll idea is about music for films - or, better: music used by films. Not necessarily film music (music specifically written for a film) but songs/tracks that also have an existence outside of the film but were somehow remarkable to us because of the use of it in a film. There are so many well know and lesser known songs/tracks used by films that I think this could be very open... But I'll let you go first, Cristi, if you wish.

No, it's fine, there is the chamber music idea, and yours is really good, I could go after that, no problem.

The chamber music idea is rather hard but I like it, because I think it has a very high potential to bring up stuff that I will like. The difficulty with the film idea is that I'm not very well informed about what is used in what film. Particularly when I watch films (I do like cinema), I tend to not consciously listen to the music, so even if I know the film I often can't tell what song was in it. So I'd find it hard to nominate anything that isn't clearly declared and "sold" as a soundtrack, which we had as topic already.
We had an 80s thread in the early days (I was the game master there), but I do like the other three a lot. (Of course we can also have another 80s thread, I was just saying...) I'm by the way still up for interactive polls, although I can live very well with not being the one who runs them for the moment, as my workload has increased quite a bit since Covid times. Oh, and personally (keeping limited time in mind) prefer as a "standard" the polls where ultimately every participant nominates just one song. There have been nice ideas involving more songs per participant and I'm not generally against that, but I'd appreciate more to see this say once in five polls rather than having half or more polls of this kind. (Of course this is just me personally, and ultimately I'm happy with everybody who entertains us running a poll with whatever rules.)
[/CITAZIONE]
All the proposed topics are feasible. (Chamber music could give rise to long-lasting proposals). As my personal taste, I would like to reintroduce the music of the 1980s. Or the theme of the Guilty Pleasure. Which is, in a certain way, the same thing. I wouldn't mind a poll of disco music either. |
