Maybe. But that was just to be sure that this person doesn't have a legitimate promo. One of the admins will eventually remove it, I'm sure... And suspend the user. Edited by Tuzvihar - November 26 2022 at 13:53 |

I think even someone with an official promo copy should not review the album so early. The album is out in two months!!!!

If it was a legitimate copy, then the label, distributor, whoever should have specified precisely when they wanted publicity and reviews. That is the way it works. This is not the first time that we have had ratings or reviews posted on albums extremely prematurely.

Maybe, but I've seen its rarely the case. For example on the metal site I hang out sometimes, the collaborators/staff are reviewing upcoming releases first, days before a release or the day of its official release, but not months. (Also staff checks out user reviews and decide if they're worth publishing or not which seems to work fine ). But two months seems just way too early. Also the Riverside album has already got some ratings. It means either the album has leaked or possibly trolling.

Yes, there will be controls on some sites, and therein lies a problem with PA. There are very strict controls here on who or what is added and where (sometimes in a ridiculous fashion), but none whatsoever on a review or rating until after the event and, thus, when the reputational damage has been done. If there ever is any reboot of this old site, that is a control which needs implementing.

That's what the reviews report and rating abuse threads are for. Any abuse and trolling needs to be dealt with. |

That is not what I meant. There should be a block on reviews being published until an admin clears said review. It is that which will stop the reputational damage being done in the first place. I am aware that the present system of reviewing would mean a probably intolerable number of reviews being stuck in a queue. Therefore, you limit the number of people who can publish reviews on the site - how about prog reviewers and collabs etc. To become a prog reviewer, you would need to submit a sample of reviews to demonstrate that you can write well enough and can be trusted. BTW, that would also stop reviews from being published prior to the album release date.

Indeedy! In reality, I think that nothing will change on PA under the present ownership, which is a shame and also should not be taken as a cheap short against the owner. I don’t know him and I am sure he is a busy chap. The discussion points here, btw, are among the main reasons that I decided to branch out on my own.

^ Neither Keishiro nor I are on the site every day, but we do respond to PMs as soon as we can usually.
I deleted that Riverside review as well as five rating for it. I copied the review and will PM it to the reviewer while mentioning why I deleted it, and explain some other things. if it was a legitimate review of a promo copy, that should be stated and explained that it was with permission. Sometimes such reviews are off leaked demos, unfinal takes, and not full copies too. |

^ Thanks.
Mortte is not using the usual way for asking corrections, but after some research I can say he's right.
So I contacted Heart of the Matter and asked him to re-post his nice review to the original 2007 release. Then we could delete the 2022 remastered album page, along with both reviews. Now let's wait... |
