Prog Britannia Twelve: A-Z Album Links

When Psychedelic Pop band The End came to an end, that was just the end of the beginning for Hard Rock band Tucky Buzzard with their five albums of tasty morsels. Wacko

Peter Sinfield (born 1943) is one of the unsung prog rock heroes of the music industry, having composed lyrics for such prog rock luminaries as King Crimson and Emerson, Lake & Palmer. He also found the time to record his one and only solo album in 1973, which Still sounds good after all these years. Notable players on the album include fellow King Crimson bandmates, Greg Lake, John Wetton & Mel Collins. Peter Sinfield's long-forgotten album may not be held in quite the same high regard as some of King Crimson's legendary albums, but Still.....

I really like "Still", and I really like just about everything Sinfield was involved with, including his work with PMF and Roxy Music.

Prog Britannia Twelve: A-Z Album Links

Synth-Pop band Ultravox are best-remembered for their classic Quartet of Midge Ure, Billy Currie, Warren Cann & Chris Cross, with Billy Currie being the only permanent member of the band. Ultravox have had four different singers over the years, with John Foxx as the frontman for their first three punkish, New Wave albums.  Scottish singer Midge Ure fronted the band from 1979 onwards, giving Ultravox a catchy and commercially appealing Synth Pop sound with their breakthrough album, Vienna in 1980. When Ultravox broke up in 1986, it seemed like that might be the end for the band, but there was no need for Ultravox fans to Lament, as they made an amazing comeback in the 1990's with two new singers, Tony Fenelle (1993); & Sam Blue (1994) and two new studio albums, one of which would turn out to be a Revelation. The year 2010 really put the icing on the cake for Ultravox with Midge Ure making an unexpected comeback alongside the classic Ultravox line-up for the Return to Eden reunion concert, followed by a Brilliant new studio album in 2012., leaving a lasting Monument to their Ingenuity and continued success. Ha! Ha! Ha! Smile

"Rage in Eden" is the standout five star album for me. The rest are three star at best with a couple of good songs and the rest being rather disappointing (especially against the standard set with "Rage...").

Warhorse were a short-lived Heavy Prog band who are best-remembered now for including Deep Purple's first bassist Nick Simper in their line-up, as well as the instantly recognisable vocals of Ashley Holt, who's long been associated with Rick Wakeman's English Rock Ensemble. And on the subject of Rick Wakeman, he almost became a member of Warhorse too but he was otherwise engaged with the Strawbs at the time. Smile

For All We Shared together, Wild White Horses couldn't drag me away from Mostly Autumn for too long, so I'm just briefly Coming Up For Air before I disappear off to Eastern Europe again. In celebration of Mostly Autumn's 25th anniversary, this is The Story So Far of the best Neo Prog band there never was! All of the band's various solo Offerings are included here too, some of which may have mostly fallen Below the Radar. Smile

25 YARD SCREAMER    In football, a 25 yard screamer is a goal scored from the 25 yard line, and this Welsh Neo Prog trio have certainly scored a winner with their 5 first-rate albums.

Neo Prog Britannia

ABEL GANZ     You may be forgiven for thinking Abel Ganz are from some remote region of Eastern Europe - if their name is anything to go by - but they're actually a Neo Prog band from bonnie Scotland (you know they're Scottish when the guitar player is wearing a kilt and sporran in the video below).  This outstanding band are no Gratuitous Flash in the pan either, although their albums have generally been met with a Deafening Silence when it comes to getting radio airplay or column inches in the jaded music press, but they're still alive and kicking here at Prog Archives. Smile

Neo Prog Britannia

AIRBRIDGE     And now, from Norwich, it's the band of the week! East Anglian band Airbridge released their one and only album in 1982, but the album failed to take off and subsequent attempts to revive the band in the 1990's were grounded. Confused
