^yes, these worked. A search for Bantzer didn't turn up anything on YouTube. After listening to the Tindersticks, went back to the cool funk of Cory Henry that Mila posted. Needed something uplifting.

Well, it's been a week already, is everyone ready to pick their favourites for the poll?
It doesn't look like there are a lot of choices, even though I tried to keep it simple and easy. Is everyone good with offering up some poll choices?

I would go for Steve Reich, but I would add Tinderstick's Jism to it if possible...
There is of course also this amazing Snarky Puppy thing that might interest some of us (if synths count as organs...):

Snarky Puppy - Lingus (solo from 4'20" on...):

^ Nice! The guy on keys is Cory Henry. I posted a track from his latest solo album above. He left Snarky Puppy in 2018 but has already released several albums under his own name during his time with the band.

I have only posted two tracks, so I would nominate both if possible:

Cory Henry: Holy Ghost

Medeski Martin & Wood: Broken Mirror

@JD, I really like your topic and the concept is easily understandable. Maybe the poll title was a bit confusing; it doesn't suggest what the poll is about. But in general, I think that we need to do a bit of promo e.g. by posting the poll titles and links in the team thread. Yesterday someone opened a thread about keybordists in the General Music Discussions section. I posted there some info about our IA-poll including the link. I don't know if we'll get any feedback but I think it's worth trying.

Unfortunately I can't find any other free source for Claus Bantzer's Samsara II.

Some thoughts and nonsense...

Lorenzo: Yes, indeed a very good Johnny Cash song. I don't hear it often, but it regularly pops up in my head (since I know someone with that name). Didn't know the Charlatans! track, rather straight forward but a good listen.

suitkees: What, four organs? But why don't they play together a good song then? And I don't like the lyrics. And what matches with Tindersticks? Is it a dirty song he sings with his mouth full? And stains have to be cleaned.

JD: Little Feat bring us a nice uptempo rock 'n roll song, and rolling it does. But the organ solo does not really impress me. Nice track though; it would make me dance if I'd liked dancing... But I must say I am more attracted to the Alan Parker track, with it's nice blues-rocky (and rolling) mood. Nice to see the virtuosity of Ethel Smith (must be bad film though, at the looks of this snippet). Alan Parker takes this one away for me.

George: Ah, Chest Fever by The Band is classic indeed. I love this track, and the organ is really cementing this one (if that means something...). Church of the Cosmic Skull sound very very retro, but also very very good. If not very original (making me think of some other famous bands) it is an instant good listen. Moody and... classic! And with the clip, they're not fearing ridicule... (and they shouldn't). Nice to see the Simpsons' take on the Iron Butterfly song.

Christian: Claus Bantzer could have been in Nick's Samsara poll from some time back. A very captivating and original organ-voice piece of music. I like this very much. Barbara Dennerlein definitely has her place here. She impresses with her playing but musically/emotionally I'm much less impressed - a bit clichéd big band jazz... I prefer the originality of Bantzer.

Mila: Cory Henry: No, not even with this one you can get me to dance... Tongue  Very funky track. Back in the heydays of funk I was not at all into it, but nowadays I do appreciate it much more. And Cory Henry's playing on this one is indeed very good. Great track! But Medeski Martin & Wood take this away for me; a nice groovy dreamy cinematic track. Sorry Cory.

@Mila: Nice to bring forward the famous Wurlitzer theatre organ. It makes me think of the (also famous) Tuschinski theater in Amsterdam. In the 90s I attended to some silent film screenings there, accompanied on the Wurlitzer organ that was there since the opening of the theatre in 1921. The theatre was renovated in the late 90s/early 2000s and they took the opportunity to restore the Wurlitzer organ (which took quite some time...). It was reinstated in 2011 and it is one of the few Wurlitzer theatre organs still in function outside of the USA.
The most impressive screening I attended to was probably Carl Theodor Dreyer's La passion de Jeanne d'Arc. The Wurlitzer made that film an even bigger masterpiece!

For your pleasure, here is Superman's theme on Tuschinski's Wurlitzer organ:

^ Kees, thank you very much for your comments! I'll get back to you a little later.

But for now:

@Christian & George, you have Bantzer's Samsara II on spotify. Maybe we can post that link next to the playlist link?

Thanks Mila. Unfortunately, I only have free Spotify account and can't play individual tracks. I just get a shuffle play based on the Bantzer track.

Can I still jump in? This theme reminded me of a record I hadn't spun in a while. The organ throughout the track sounds so good Approve I saw them opening for Blues Pills some years ago and their concert was way more memorable.

^ Welcome to the party, Sam! You are right on time. Nominations have only just begun.- This is some real nice blues rock that you are bringing! We are not so many this time around, so everyone can nominate two songs, I think. If you like you can suggest a second track.

Sorry, I missed your post.- How come? Me too have just a free account and can listen to everything in full. You have some spotify adverts now and then and that's about it. I have even playlists there that I wanted to suggest for the IA-polls. But of course you have to register first, with your email, via your google or fb account, or whatever.

My Spotify account wouldn't play Claus Bantzer even though his album was there, don't know why. Of course for me personally that's not a problem, but for the people who can't watch the yt video...

I researched this and it seems like this has something to do with phone app (what I used) and licensing agreements. I will have to try on my laptop next time I have it open.

Quote One of the differences between Premium and Free is the ability to play all your music without Shuffle. As a Free user, most of the playlists you see can only be played in Shuffle mode. This does not apply for Spotify on desktop.

Spotify provides Free users with some Pick and Play Playlists which can be played on-demand, without Shuffle:

These playlists can be found under Home > Made For You/Recommended For You.
Pick and Play playlists will include some of the most popular curated playlists on Spotify, such RapCaviar, as well as personalized playlists like Daily Mix. You cannot choose which playlists are Pick and Play, but Spotify will include a few editorial playlists that align with your taste.

^ I see. I use spotify from my laptop. I also have access to albums of individual artists with my free account.

@Christian, but you do have a spotify account, don't you? Try this link. https://open.spotify.com/album/3nBYjAI7msIyIXT64GDkLu

That's what you get if you use the spotify or google search engine by typing the artist name along with the album title. I don't know whether the URL differs depending on the computer you use, though. But that seems rather unlikely to me. Maybe you should still try and do the search yourself.- Unfortunately most of Bantzer's material is on this topic channel generated by youtube. Otherwise you could at least pick another track.

See, I don't have a problem with this anyway, as I have other ways to listen to Bantzer. The only problem was that I couldn't find something that I believe would work also for those for whom the yt video doesn't play.

^ I've been thinking about spotify as an alternative to youtube, not only for now but also for the future. These youtube geo-retrictions are annoying. George said he would try and check his access to spotify from his laptop. Let's see.
