^ Indeed Paul, this was my conclusion after many debates at Victoria Centre Bus Station which spilled over to Trevor Dann's Rock Show on Radio Nottingham.

I remember Trevor Dann and I also recall how Chris Evans and his breakfast crew used to constantly make fun of him on his BBC Radio Two morning show, even though he was effectively Chris Evans' boss. That's probably why he didn't last very long at Radio 2. Trevor Dann also wrote a biography of Nick Drake, titled "Darker Than the Deepest Sea".

Always thought VDGG, GG, Camel & Caravan would be in the next bracket... what about Renaissance?

Indeed essentially Rush were a hard rock band , but they took that sub genre and made something of it. Moving Pictures (the vinyl edition) was my ask for my 60th. It's a beautiful thing.

^ Indeed, I also witnessed similar claims in the late 70s from Rainbow fans. I thought Rainbow had a stronger case than Rush.

Not sure Rainbow ever gravitated that heavily towards prog barring a few obvious tracks (Gates Of Babylon and Stargazer mainly) . Rush were solidly a prog band from 2112 through to Hemispheres. IMO

I think some people are just doing personal lists which is not the same otherwise it should be called a "personal big six list."

Even as personal big six, it still needs to make sense, "big" in the original "big 4 of thrash" , meant popular, famous.
