![]() Shine On You Crazy Diamond! This stunning CD/DVD is a tribute to the mad, tortured genius of Syd Barrett, who ascended heavenward to The Great Gig in the Sky back in 2006. Madcap's Flaming Duty is Tangerine Dream's 34th studio album and their landmark 100th album overall. This phenomenal performance features a six-piece line-up of Edgar Froese, Thorsten Quaeschning, Bernhard Beibl, Linda Spa, Iris Camaa and New Wave-style vocalist Chris Hausl, who sounds not unlike Dave Gahan, so if you've ever wondered what Tangerine Dream combined with Depeche Mode would sound like, then it sounds something like this. Look out for Bernhard Beibl playing his guitar with a wine bottle while dressed as Ritchie Blackmore. ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - November 21 2022 at 19:41 |

![]() Summer in Nagasaki is the second part in The Five Atomic Seasons series. The series was inspired by an 82-year-old Japanese businessman who lived in Nagasaki in the spring and summer of 1945, but then moved to Hiroshima where he miraculously survived the horrific atomic bombing in the autumn of that year. Summer in Nagasaki is Tangerine Dream's 35th studio album and their 101st album overall, and believe it or not, we're not even halfway through Tangerine Dream's humongous discography yet as there's still over one hundred albums to go between now and 2022. Crikey! Will I be carried off to the funny farm before I finally manage to catalogue all of Tangerine Dream's seemingly endless panoply of albums, or is there always Raum for more? Find out in the next instalment, beginning in November. Sayonara, until the next time. ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - November 21 2022 at 19:42 |

My pleasure. I was going to add that it was a rare recording too - until I found two other copies of it on YouTube.

I totally agree with what you said earlier about the years 2000-2014 being Tangerine Dream's very best era.

A brief interlude.....
Now that we've reached the stage where Thorsten Quaeschning has just joined Tangerine Dream, this seems like the perfect time to feature the one and only album by Quaeschning & Schnauss. ![]() An appropriate song for the weather today in Nottinghamshire.

lol, probably for me its solidly 1979-1985 (Force Majeure to Le Parc) but I do love a lot of the post 2000 releases which generally seem to get ignored.

While I think the Baumann-Schmoelling years can't be topped (that includes Force Majeure in-between), I do love a lot of TD's output in the last fifteen years, with the top five spots going to (chronologically) Views from a Red Train, GTA 5, Sorcerer 2014, Light Flux (archival) and the recent Raum.

I still have those five recommended albums to look forward to as I haven't yet listened to any TD albums beyond 2007.

The 101st Tangerine Dream album will be coming up here shortly, but while we wait for that, here's a nice piece of music from Johannes Schmoelling to Tide you over in the mean-Time.

![]() While you were sleeping, I've been listening to the 25-minute-long, 3-track EP, Sleeping Watches Sleeping in Silence, which might sound like the ideal album for somnambulists, but it's actually "a collectors item for diehard fans" (at least according to Tangerine Dream's official website), featuring classic TD tracks given a new lease of life (or a fresh boost), such as the title track below. Sleep tight, and don't let the bed bugs bite. ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - November 15 2022 at 05:21 |

![]() The 35th Phaedra Anniversary Concert was recorded at the Shepherd's Bush Empire, London, back in 2005. The concert features a 5-piece line-up of Edgar Froese, Jerome Froese, Thorsten Quaeschning, Linda Spa & Iris Camaa. The title of the DVD conveniently overlooks the fact that it was actually the 31th anniversary of Phaedra (1974) when this concert was recorded in 2005., but heigh-ho, there you go. ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - November 16 2022 at 10:39 |
