According to Dr. Sujata Udeshi, 98% of her patients present with deficiencies of either vitamin D or vitamin B12, which she attributes to lack of sunlight.

Well folks, it's that time of year again. The days are getting shorter and the precious sunlight that we all bask in during the summer is diminishing, staving us of all the goodness it provides. Warmth and nutrients. Specifically Vitamins D and B12. As you may also know, B3 is also a vitamin as well as a model of Hammond organ used by many musicians. You can see where I'm going with this.

This poll is for songs that either use organ as a main instrument or contain a solo or organ break.

In accordance with my own self imposed rules :

1 - Go lean - Post a maximum of two videos
2 - Rework the deliverables - Include name of band and song title above video as well as time range for the Organ solo or break if applicable (ie: 2:43 - 3:07)
3 - Continuous Improvement - No PA listings permitted. However, if an artists listed on PA has done a project that is NOT listed, it's fair game (such as guesting on other albums or other genres and such).

I love this song.

I listen to it at night, in the dark.

It seems that the voice come from an another universe, it got something of ghostly, sepulchral sound, and this effect is amplified by the accompaniment of the organ.

Now I remember the name of the British band that made some good commercial pop albums in the 1990s featuring the sound of a Hammond organ, musician Rob Collins, who later died young.

And why just one organ when you can get four? This, in my humble opinion, is one of the most fascinating organ pieces available (you probably know this piece, but well...).

I gather that the church organ also counts!?

Here's Samsara II by Claus Bantzer. In fact when I was born, Bantzer was church organist where my father worked. I love the church organ since my childhood but it took me some time to appreciate how good Bantzer actually was/is. From my twenties, I would regularly join my father on Good Friday to go to the church where Bantzer played a Good Friday improvisation, and some of those were brutally good.

My plan was have everyone choose their favourite only. But if there are very few people participating (meaning lots less songs to choose from) then I can allow two per.

BTW, you can keep posting songs until the end of the weekend. Then I'll say PICK YOUR FAVOURITE(S) and those will go in the poll.

Sound simple enough?

^ The early Disney films were accompanied i.a. by theatre organs. These organs such as the Mighty Wurlitzer had their heyday during the silent film era. In fact that's what they were made for. They were able to replace an entire orchestra. Silent films are still a source of inspiration for musicians today. Only few original recordings are preserved because this music is still being played live. So if you ever get the chance to attend such a screening of a silent film, off to the movies!

Medeski Martin & Wood: Broken Mirror
Album: Radiolarians III (2009). Also featuring on the Fly in a Bottle DVD, portraying the band.

MMW, formed in NYC in 1991, are a group that effortlessly straddles the gap between avant-garde improvisation and accessible groove-based jazz (John Medeski kb, Billy Martin dr, Chris Wood bs). Medeski is a genuine keyboard virtuoso. Apart from the acoustic piano he plays a myriad of different key instruments, including all kind of organs.- Besides individual projects of the band members the trio has also collaborated with numerous other musicians incl. John Scofield with whom they have recorded several albums [organ solo starts @ 2:08]

Even though on PA as proto-prog, I want to post this Deep Purple performance.

Jon Lord takes over from about 3:20 onward foe about 4 and a half minutes.
