One band from the 70s, one band from the 80s and one vand from the 90s. All are within the pop genre, Abba is disco, 70s pop.a-ha is 80s new wave/synth pop, alternativ rock, new romantic pop. Aqua is eurodance (pop), dance-pop, and such.

I can not lie and its pretty clear, Aqua is not what i now like, or deemed as very good. But when i was 12 years when they were big. I liked them then.

But compared to ABBA and a-ha, even i see the joke, and struggle to se Aqua as a viable contender. But they were/are big, and is a huge band/group from Denmark (though Lene is from Norway), they are/were Copenhagen based.
Barbie Girls was a HUGE song and inspires youtubw content even to this date.

But ABBA are among the best selling bands in all pop music history past 50 years, and Take on Me as a song is stil relevant to youth generation, 37 years after its debute. With over one billion plays on Spotify and Youtube, its as huge as Don't Stop Believing and Billy Jean.

I forsee a battle between Sweden and Norway, with Denmark limping behind.

A-ha is one of my favorite bands, I've listened to all their albums. I've been fond of them since I was a middle schooler.

TBH Aqua does not belong in such good company (ABBA and a-ha).

A.C.T would almost fit in here... their first 3 albums were outrageously good.

I am aware of the stretch, I might look for other acts. But I alao like the unfortionate circumstance, the each of the Scandi countries, formed and spawned, three bands that became ofcertain fame and all share same 1.st letter.

The poll is victim of unfortinate circumstances

ABBA should be the winner that takes it all in this poll, but I also like a-ha and Ace of Base, and Annifrid & Agnetha's solo albums deserve a mention too. Smile

A-ha.

After listening to their eighties bestseller, I had stopped listening to them but I went back to listening to their albums after Cristi posted some of their songs in the Interactive polls, and I must say that some are remarkable.

I can understand choosing Aqua for the poll as they represented a third country, but in keeping with the same letters, different decades, Ace of Base probably would perhaps have been a better choice? I like Abba, A-Ha, and Ace of Base, but as much as Barbie Girl remains played in houses throughout the world with little girls, including my own (my younger daughters love Barbie Girl, and sing along with glee), Aqua has never been my cup of tea….

It’s hard to choose between Abba and A-Ha, but I think I have to give Abba the vote….

A-ha. I really like the orchestral arrangement for Hunting High & Low.

as for eurodance bands from scandinavia, i enjoy Ace of Base and (on letter E) E-type considerbly more then Aqua in the 90s when i was in the bubble of being pre-teen and those sounds were good to my ears and music taste.

Both a-ha and ABBA have some great stuff, ABBA have just a bit more, and a bit greater.

A-ha. They win just for their band name.

Definitely A-ha for me. It sucks that Take On Me and The Sun Always Shines On TV are the only songs they're remembered for in the states, because they have a whole treasure trove of solid tunes. Especially during their more alternative 90s era Smile
Take me down, to the underground

Yep, a-Ha are a pretty good band, which is not something I would say about Aqua.

It’s ABBA for me here.

Admittedly, I have more albums by Roxette than any other Scandinavian group, including ABBA. Embarrassed

A-Ha gets my vote.  And I disagree with you that "Take On Me" and "The Sun Always Shines On TV" are the only songs folks remember in the States.

I think only the Bond fans know the song. LOL
