TimesSquare is Tangerine Dream's 57th album and their second of five albums of dance remixes from Jerome Froese. This fairly unmemorable dance album is unlikely to make anyone's top list of Tangerine Dream albums they'd like to Keep, unlike the next album recorded many years earlier when Jerome Froese was still at school in short trousers (or lederhosen). Worthy of another star, IMO. Oasis was a very nice surprise when it arrived, demonstrating the second half of the decade was proving to be more interesting for the band than the first half.

A very belated release for the soundtrack to Michael Mann's dark fantasy horror movie, The Keep. This is Tangerine Dream's 22nd soundtrack and their 58th album overall, recorded back in 1983 by the classic TD trio of Edgar Froese, Chris Franke & Johannes Schmoellng.  This superb soundtrack makes for a nice nostalgic Keepsake, as it's good to remember what a fine trio Tangerine Dream were back in the early 1980's, long before the current crop of less than memorable Dream Mixes and Ambient Monkeys' albums, which seem tedious (or TD-ious) by comparison. Smile

Too much monkey business..... The jungle drums are beating for Tangerine Dream's 59th album: Ambient Monkeys. As the album title suggests, the music features the sounds of the rainforest overlaid with some of Tangerine Dream's mellower tunes, where you can expect to hear Tarzan swing by at any moment. With the rare exception of Tyranny of Beauty, it seems the only Tangerine Dream albums worthy of a 4-star rating in the 1990's were those that were recorded a decade earlier. Tongue

Another weird one. This consists of "sound collages" the band assembled for pre-show playback while the venue was filling up. Then Edgar chose to release it. Confused

If it hasn't been mentionned yet, I recommend the two first albums of Redshift (especially Ether), a band formed by Mark Shreeve as an hommage to the classic mid 70s' Berlin-school genre.

If you enjoy TD's Phaedra and Rubycon, this is for you Wink

Thanks Modrigue. Incredibly, that's the first time I've heard of Redshift and they sound amazing!  I'll add them to my Progressive Electronic A-Z playlist in place of RealTime (another German Berlin School band). By the way, we're fast-approaching Tangerine Dream's 60th album, so I reckon we're about a third of the way through their vast discography now.... And there was me thinking listing Rick Wakeman's vast backlog of albums would be my biggest challenge. At least I'll never have to listen to Rick's dreadful collaboration with Norman Wisdom again. Still, As Long as They're Happy, eh.  Tongue

Der Meteor is Tangerine Dream's 60th album and also one of their rarest, having been recorded for a series of German audio books for children, so you won't find this album in the record stores. Ultimately, Der Meteor fails to make much of an impact. Smile
