I noticed that your list does not include any Klaus Schulze. He is one of my favorite electronic music artists so I was wondering if you had any thoughts on Klaus Schulze's output in general.

One album I will be looking out for though is Tangerine Dream's outstanding Legend soundtrack, which is easily my favourite TD album overall. Hug

The nearest store that stocks any EM at all is roughly a two-hour drive for me, so I buy online. Wink
I have a feeling my Tangerine Dream Top 10 is going to look very different by the time I've finished listening to all of their albums, whenever that may be. Smile

My original TD Top 10                   My TD Top 10 now

1. Stratosfear                               1. Legend (soundtrack)
2. Force Majeure                           2. Stratosfear
3. Encore                                     3. Encore
4. Logos                                      4. Logos
5. White Eagle                              5. Poland
6. Tangram                                  6. Force Majeure
7. Ricochet                                   7. Ricochet
8. Poland                                      8. Tangram
9. Cyclone                                    9. Cyclone
10. Thief (soundtrack)                   10. Thief (soundtrack)

Oops, I see that the main victim of your reshuffle is "White Eagle". That saddens me somewhat.

That's simply because I've never quite got around to listening to any albums by Klaus Schulze, but I can promise I'll listen to all of Klaus Schulze's albums eventually and feature them all here too after I've listened to all of Tangerine Dream's multitude of albums. Thumbs Up

I'm afraid Thief has stolen White Eagle's place in my Top 10, but it's still flying high in 11th place above the Green Desert. Thumbs Up

5 stars 1987: Tyger - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mB5ucN83CjtsWEpcuXpDZ-VD2Z6ZsicJ8

Tyger Tyger, burning bright, In the forests of the night, What immortal hand or eye, Could frame thy fearful symmetry?...... And so begins Tangerine Dream's 30th album, based around the poetry of William Blake. Tyger is an exceptionally good album and it's a landmark album for Tangerine Dream in two ways. It's only their second studio album to include songs and lyrics (after "Cyclone" in 1978), but sadly, it's the last Tangerine Dream studio album to feature long-time member Christopher Franke. Cry

Track Listing:-

1. Tyger  (5:45)
2. London  (14:22)
3. Alchemy of the Heart  (12:23)
4. Smile  (6:08)
5. 21st Century Common Man, Part 1  (4:49)
6. 21st Century Common Man, Part 2  (4:00)

hello, Paul:  my sentimental favourite Tangerine Dream album would have to be Atem.  it was the work that convinced me to do Space Pirate Radio for real, on a real commercial FM station in California.  after that is Phaedra & Zeit, followed by Rubycon, Ricochet, Stratosfear & Sorcerer.  obviously, a time capsule here.  when I met Edgar & the others backstage after the 1977 Santa Monica Civic performance, things were still fresh & relaxed then. "I hope the audience didn't notice we were tippling," Edgar said to me, referring to the Kamikazes, or vodka & lemonades he was drinking during the show.  a very young Jerome had an 8mm camera and was filming his father & I talking from his lower perspective.  even Roman Polanski was there, with then girlfriend Nastassja Kinski.  flashing forward to November in 1992 & Tangerind Dream finished their Rockoon tour celebrating an early 20th Anniversary of Space Pirate Radio in Ventura, California.  a very long road indeed.  my best to you.

So that's where Edgar Froese got the idea from for his Kamikaze album..... I never realised a Kamikaze was an alcoholic drink  - presumably named "Kamikaze" because you'd never want to try it again. Tongue

Right now, I'm listening to Christopher Franke, in readiness for posting all of his solo albums here later this week. Smile

3 stars 1987: Three O'clock High (soundtrack) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNcKZgPQELA

Three O'clock High is Tangerine Dream's 31st album overall and their 9th soundtrack album, with additional music provided by Austrian composer Sylvester Levay. Three O'clock High is an American teen comedy - if you hadn't already guessed from the title - and features a suitably upbeat and modern synth score, no doubt designed to appeal to the "youth market". The movie was an expensive box office flop, costing $5 million to make, but with a total lifetime gross of only $3.6 million, so it's probably best to skip the movie and just enjoy the Tangerine Dream soundtrack. To be absolutely honest though, the soundtrack is instantly forgettable too, but that's just my opinion for what it's worth - although I couldn't help noticing it's the lowest-rated Tangerine Dream album on ProgArchives with a measly rating of just 1.64, which makes a 3-star rating from me look comparatively generous. Tongue

I've no idea what that means, so I can't even answer that question, but it sounds rude. Embarrassed

Not meant that at all. I meant Turkish Delight which you have told, you were once sucking on while watching a Symph Metal video, so I was just trying to make a joke, sorry. Smile

Ah, it all makes sense now. The only Turkish Delight I've encountered recently was in a James Bond movie, where  a belly dancer was performing in a harem in Istanbul, and James Bond (Roger Moore) cheekily remarked, "When one is in Turkey, one should delve deeply into its treasures." - or something along those lines. Tongue

The two main problems with Three O'Clock High are: the tracks are very short, and the best track is Levay's. Levay is the composer of the Airwolf theme, and he's pretty handy with those synths! For reasons unknown, TD's score was minced and diced and used to accentuate rather than serve as a genuine underscore. It's in my collection and it's a fun listen, but it's a short listen.

Btw, Three O'Clock High is a great movie. It was ahead of its time, hence its underwhelming box office performance. It was co-written by Richard Christian Matheson, son of literary horror icon Richard Matheson, and scores a solid 7.1/10 on IMDb (based on 12000 ratings).
