That’s sad. I saw Das Boot in the movie theatre and it was one of the first I watched with subtitles. It had a big effect on me and my love of world cinema and subtitled films. The soundtrack was also one of my earliest favourites and earliest acquisitions. The Canadian comedy TV series SCTV did a parody of it called Das Boobs. Great film of which I own more than one version (by which I mean Das Boot, not Das Boobs, although I wouldn't mind having two of those).

I'm sorry to hear of this. I am a big fan of "Das Boot" and the soundtrack, written by Klaus Doldinger, also leader of the group "Passport", a defining outfit for me that I have listened to for decades.

He made my favourite film, "The Neverending Story" my kind of movie, Das Boot also has its merrits.
