I'm not a fan, never really have been, totally agree the music he has created has some amazing moments mainly with Pink Floyd.
This interview goes pretty bad after a couple minutes, I guess depending what your view point may be. Enjoy  |

My god, what a patronising and basically pretty crummy interviewer! Roger Waters was amazingly patient with him. I think I would have walked out on him, because he is clearly either uneducated, plain stupid, or deliberately trolling.
I’m no fan of Roger Waters as a person. I don’t agree with a lot of his opinions. But I’m most definitely on his side here, as the interviewer is spitting complete nonsense. |

I agree that the interviewer was being deliberately provocative and trying to bait some controversial statements out of Waters, but as far as I'm aware I don't think he said any blatant untruths, whereas pretty much every single thing that Waters said about China is a load of doodoo. It's embarrassing but I wasn't expecting much better from him anyway.

I watched that interview when it was aired. I almost posted it as well but thought maybe we'd had enough of Roger Doger's political vomitorium. I thought Michael held his own against such a Wall.

Roger is +/- right about NATO's toxicity and provocation - not to mention Ukraine's agression against its own minority since 2009, by trying to eradicate Russian culture from its "territory" >> which, BTW, was mostly donated by the Soviets and the Tsars. ... but he's totally wrong about China: invasion of Tibet and the Xingjiang exploitation. Maybe Taïwan (only 15% of its population is chinese - Han ethnicity, anyways) should give the Kuomintang treasure (actually the Imperial treasure if memory serves) - which was stolen by Chang Kaï-Tchek and his crew. If Taïwan wants its case to be "dropped" by China, it should first stop flashing the KMT emblem (white sun in a blue circle) from its flag. The KMT invaded the Formosa island in fleeing the communist (which is understandable) in 1949, but it took power of the islands at the cost of the many ethnicities in place. Indeed, the original Formosa population was hardly Chinese at all (and still isn't), but a mosaic of ethnicities ranging from Melanesian, Austronesians, Sirayans etc... FTM, the most-spoken language on the island is not Mandarin or Cantonese (or English), but Taïwanese and Minnan (70%). ========================== But this CNN "polemist" (i wouldn't grace this goof with a "journalist" qualifier) is a pure disgrace... don't understand why Rog's poor judgment (he's very prone to this flaw) let him be interviewed by this clown. .

I listen to music to escape the nonstop barrage of political and social commentary. Unfortunately, Waters started to infect his music with that, beginning with Animals. I don't like that he's used his position in one of the most popular bands ever as a platform for his personal opinions. There's very little of PF I enjoy (except for some of the Gilmour-centric pieces) ever since. I don't deny that he's a great musician and lyricist -- I just don't like what he's singing about.

The entire world understands how China has treated it's peoples for years, so I'm not sure where RW is reading from, instructing the CNN guy to go read.......Seems RW need to go and visit parts of China and see for himself.
I've seen it first hand how economically China has oppressed its work force. I'm not talking about in Shanghai or Beijing, I've been to parts where tourists don't go no tours or excursions to these parts. Working in forestry and wood products, going to factories and seeing it and then being told how much they are being paid. Work place safety??? What a joke.... Yea, there were many companies we did not do business with due to how they treated people. It was a shame because you knew you were affecting them directly and their families. Agree with SteveG, he is not a NATO fan clearly. What struck me is that Roger at first does not seem like the political stuff means much but soon as CNN guy starts probing Roger turns into a political preacher with veins popping and spitting as he talks......poor guy.
