Spin: an Ekseptional Jazz-Rock band from Holland. Why not give their two super-cool albums a Spin. Smile

Shocking Blue were formed in The Hague by Robbie van Leeuwen back in 1967, although the band will always be best-remembered for eye-catching singer Mariska Veres (1947-2006).  Her weapons were her crystal kohl-rimmed eyes and husky voice, and with hair as black as the dark night, making every man mad for her. Wow! She's got it! Yeah, baby, she's got it! Heart

Scope: an obscure Jazz-Rock/Fusion band from the obscure Dutch town of Zwolle, brought to you courtesy of the always excellent Terminal Passage channel on YouTube, where there's no end of obscure album treasures  just waiting to be discovered throughout the passage of time. I feel another blog coming on. Wink

Ton Scherpenzeel isn't exactly a household name (even in his own household), but he's the keyboard maestro behind Dutch Symphonic Prog legends, Kayak. He's also the band's chief composer, producer, arranger and lyricist, so if it wasn't for having Scherpenzeel in the band, then Kayak would be up the creek without a paddle, so to speak. Tongue

Pythagoras: an obscure Progressive Electronic duo from The Hague who are well-worth a listen, if you see it from my angle. Wink

Pugh's Place: a Dutch Heavy Prog band, sounding like a heavy version of Jethro Tull, so expect to hear a pot-bouree of great songs, including a Beatles tribute.  Smile

Every once in a while, an album comes along that sounds like nothing you've ever heard before, and this it! Just file it under "progressive".  You don't have to be of a religious disposition to enjoy this devotional album, but it certainly helps. If you hear shades of Focus in the music of Pedal Point, then you won't be surprised to learn this one-off album features none other than Thijs Van Leer. Smile

Cool Jazz from the Netherlands and it doesn't come much cooler than Pat Cool, with a remarkable basso profundo singer by the name of Gé Titulaer, who sounds like a bizarre cross between Tom Jones and Scott Walker - and I have No Regrets in making that comparison. All I know is I like it, like it, Yes I do, and I hope you do too. Smile

Pantheon: the best Canterbury Scene album you've never heard! In the vast pantheon of prog, what could be more obscure than a one-off album of Canterbury Scene music from The Netherlands? Pantheon may be a long way from the dreaming spires of Canterbury, but this album still sounds better than many well-known Canterbury Scene bands who are much closer to home - such as Hatfield & the North and National Health for instance. Ermm

5 stars 1972: Pantheon - Orion  - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSaaCDBYF3M

Mr. Albert Show: an improbable-sounding Crossover Prog band (named after a roadie) with some even more improbably-named players. Check out these great Dutch names......

Bertus Borgers / saxophone, flute, vocals
Roeland Boogaart / drums
Tom Fautubum / bass
Eric Lintermans / guitars
Bonki Bongaerts / organ
Floortje Klomp / vocals

Mirror Mirror on the wall, who's the fairest Dutch prog band of them all? Well, that would be Focus, obviously, but Mirror comes a pretty close second in this Ekseptional one-off album of reflective music. Smile

Marakesh:- You won't find any exotic carpets here, but you will find some great music that's full of eastern promise, as Marakesh (with one "r") are an outstanding Crossover Prog band from The Netherlands. This is a real Dutch treat! Thumbs Up
