I know what you mean, and I haven't actually seen The Jesus Rolls yet and have read that The Big Lebowski is actually not the biggest influence on it, but is instead Going Places from 1974. I doubt that I would like it near as much as The Big Lebowski, which I love. I listened to a podcast in 2019 comparing The Big Lebowski to Pulp Fiction (even if not that comparable, more so than TBL and D&D -- Dumb and Dumber, not Dungeons and Dragons). https://www.verybadwizards.com/167 https://www.verybadwizards.com/168 I love plenty of the Coen Bros films (and Tarantino films for the matter, who I was comparing the other day with someone I know). In regards to Jim Carrey films, I hugely preferred Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Truman Show and Man on the Moon to Dumb and Dumber. |

The Big Lebowski. I saw Dumb and Dumber on the big screen and laughed out loud once or twice (I was also slightly surprised that Red Right Hand was included in the soundtrack), but it really doesn't stand up to repeated viewing. I don't remember laughing out loud at The Big Lebowski, but I enjoyed every minute of it and I might watch it again this week as it's been a while since I revisited The Dude.

the humor of movies like "Dumb and Dumber" completely fails to entertain me. I couldn't watch the movie for more than 20 minutes
