^^ Never heard that one, but I think it's quite raw Death/ Doom, a bit like Anathema's first... I think Materia is more polished and mellow Post-Prog oriented offering?

Vocals are better than Anathema's first, I'm on the 4th song, but i like the diverse influences here, from extreme metal to atmospheric passages.
Funny I've become more tolerant with extreme metal the older I got, I am rather picky though...

always been a struggle for me... Amorphis is about as extreme as I've ever been able to cope with (because the melodies are so strong) and I think you'll agree, they are pretty mainstream...

as mainstream as metal can be these days. I like a few Amorphis albums. They started as a death metal band. I do like Tales From The Thousand Lakes. I listened to it a couple of days ago.

I like them from the Tomi albums... post Eclipse, but I've not heard Halo; not because I'm not interested, but because I just listen to less metal these days, and need to catch up on some Prog...

The later day album that raised the bar quite high is Under The Red Cloud. I cannot help but compare and Queen of Time was weaker and Halo the same. I gave up listening halfway through. I will give it another listen soon though. I don't like unfinished listenings, even if I am not keen on it.

tRC and QoT are both very strong albums for me; tRC shades it marginally.
