I will give it a go. Still busy so the three week time frame sounds good.

I’m down for it. I’m just not sure how much time I have for it. I think it’s a cool idea, though - and will definitely attempt to play along, as and when I find time.

Yes, you're right, it needs time. I thought about this mechanism both because I am curious to discover your prog tastes - referring to single songs that mean a lot to you - and because we are few and in this way we are sure that everyone votes, in fact if we listen to the songs of others forumists and put them in order of liking, then it will be easy to select the first three. We can take three weeks and finish on July 31st. Mila, Cristi, Nick, George etc. how about it? |

Let me first say that I think it's a nice idea, I like tournament style things as you saw. I just think that straighter themes where people can just come up with something without necessarily listen to others' suggestions (just in the end the final nominations) may attract more participation. Of course current low participation may have other reasons and it's just a smaller but dedicated group now, but still it will make participation hard for people with not a lot of time in their hands (that's certainly me over this summer). On the other hand it's about prog so we may "hope" to know quite a bit of stuff that is suggested, although of course the idea is to find out about new stuff. |

Ah, a kind of "best of the rest" poll with a Psychedelic Paul treatment. That should not be too complicated. There are many not in the PA top 100 that are in mine...

Here's what I thought for the new interactive Poll, which I would call: Our favorite prog songs of the Seventies: 1) Choose 4 prog songs released between 1970 and 1979 that are among your favorites, no matter if they are famous or less-known songs (however, they must not belong to one of the bands that are present with one or more albums in the Top 100 - all time). 2) The songs must last a maximum of 10 minutes. 3) After you have posted your selection, listen to each song posted by the other forumists, and put them in order from 1 (the one you like best) to 4 (the one you like least). Number 1 gets 5 points, number 2 gets 3 points, number 3 gets 2 points, number 4 gets 1 point. 4) From your selection of 4 songs, two songs will participate in the final vote, but you won't be the one to choose them: the songs nominated will be those that have obtained the highest score from the votes of the forumists. 5) And in the end you vote for 3 songs! So, how about it, friends? Edited by jamesbaldwin - July 10 2022 at 18:37 |

Yes, I am thinking of doing something different if it sounds okay to anyone who responds. I call it the "Interactive Inspiration Interactive Poll." I will post one track that I like and want to share. Whoever posts next must be inspired in some way (could be by music, lyric, style, instrument, whatever) by the track I posted. The person after that can be inspired by either track. The person after that can be inspired by any one of the previous three tracks, and so on. So, as posting goes on, there are more tracks that you can be inspired by. The posting rule is that you can post only one track at a time and include the title of the track that inspired you. Optionally, you can include how that track inspired your track. Also, you can't be inspired by any track you posted previously. Also, you do not have to listen to every track posted but must be inspired by a track that is posted in the thread. Otherwise, the usual rules. Try to limit to three suggestions. Vote for three other than your own once the poll is set. I will allow PA tracks from albums with fewer than 50 ratings. Maybe have a longer nominating period to give people time to listen and get inspired. |
