^ I presume it is a dig at theatre being spelt theater. To those who spell it theatre it not only looks pretty ugly, but it’s a pain in the arse to type, as autocorrect also believes it is spelt incorrectly, and changes it to theatre.

maybe, but it's how Americans spell it - as in "movie theater".

Exactly. And people often make jokes that Americans can’t spell. |

maybe, but that's not the issue here, because after all there is no misspelling in the band's name.

It's called 'English' for a reason kiddies. I do enjoy the Dillinger Escape Plan (they strike me as very heavily influenced by jazz harmonies which I don't hear in other metal) and Animals as Leaders (whose music covers a wide gamut of dynamics redolent of Funk and Electronica which is absent from much of the metal I've heard) but that's about it. Addemdum. I like Riverside and some Opeth but don't associate either with being exclusively Metal, Prog variety or otherwise. Edited by ExittheLemming - May 14 2022 at 03:41 |

Gosh. An Irish acquaintance of mine "corrected" my pronunciation of "son", saying that it cannot be uttered like "sun". I filled him in, saying that the Americans do it that way. BTW I prefer the British spellings and pronunciations of the words, but I have been exposed to the American English a lot, so I sometimes flop. |

you are the one seemingly annoyed that an American band spelled their band name differently from British English.

^ It's interesting how the language has mutated and morphed over time e.g. If you were deemed to be talking out your fanny in the UK, that would be a matter for the medical profession (or an exorcist)

That's pretty heavy, and I'd like to hear some more about this point of view, Hiram.

Well, it's heavy metal, innit? I don't know what more there is to say. Personal taste, that's all.

They'll always be Dream Theater (and not Theatre) to me as they're an American Band. Signed, Captain Obvious

Hi, It's all good, and no one, or nothing, is beyond being able to get roasted. My only point would be, that this is all just another commercial idea to help sell more items. And while that is not my idea of "art", in general, the choices are worse than the previous one that it (supposedly) emulates. I'm not sure there is a way to discuss this topic clearly ... there isn't enough on it to even mention the music itself and its trends, styles and abilities, which many times, only show how poor so many of these musicians are in the first place, but will be appreciated because they are famous now, and sell a bucket of chestnuts and, of course, mentioned on a top ten like PA and Rym. We can't forget that! ... the symbol of "good".

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Not usually (I like quite a bit of it).
If the composition is good, I like it. Regardless of the style.
