Tom Cruise and maybe even Richard Gere (not all that sure about the latter - he's in a sect, but maybe not Hubbard's). I hear Cruise and Corea are being relentlessly pushy about joining up. Chick has even ejected musos from his band, because they told him off about his beliefs .

Tom Cruise is the most high-profile Scieno, which is why I didn't mention them. You'd have to have spent the last fifty years in Antarctica to miss that one. (The same goes for Travolta, but I had to post that pic, haha.) Gere has been a practicing Buddhist since the '70s. He's not in any kind of strange sect, AFAIK.
Joe Farrell famously rebuffed Chick's proselytizing.

In essence, any and every religion is a cult. Religion rhymes with submission. And if you want that, then go for it. Not my thing, though. There are many and many documentaries on cults and religions, just browse the imdb if you are really interested in it. I'm not going to serve you on this.

Actually, this is the difference between a religion (church) and a cult: One (the former) lets you leave. The other does not.

Vineland had a cult practice and it wasn't good as some people living in the town began to panic over the disappearances of children..in particular Billy Jones who vanished when I was a kid. Some of the locals began spreading a rumor that a Satan cult abducted him.
The police had an idea that he was murdered and his body dumped or buried at the "Palace Of Depression " The Palace Of Depression was built by an eccentric George Daynor. The place itself looked bewitching and he built it out of junkyard parts and became a source of entertainment for children and teenagers on the weekends not unlike The Brigantine Castle or any other horror amusement in South Jersey. The first occult crime in Vineland NJ was in 1957..but I'm certain to believe there were more in the past, it's just impossible to find the newspaper articles. Someone told me that the Menantico Cult ritual which took place in 1971..also took place in 1871 ..in the same area..and that I should find the newspaper article on microfiche. The library records do not date back that far and there are people who sware that they researched it in the 70s when supposedly the library did have the old articles readily available. I find that to be strange |

In 1957 Juan Rivera Aponte of Vineland NJ was convicted for the murder of 13 year old Roger Carletto. He murdered Carletto to gain possession of his powdered skull as part of a Black Magic spell. Documented and an isolated case.
Something strange occurred in Vineland after the Menantico cult killing. Perhaps it was the year after the ritualistic killing at Menantico that it began. People started reporting cult sightings. They would describe a cult in robes walking people into the water. They were tied and bound and surfboarded in the face down position. ..so they could drown and return as a captain to rule over 40 leagues of demons. This occurred all through the remainder of the 70s. Why? Were they copy cats? Why did they want to repeat the Menantico cult ritual? The Menantico cult were middle aged adults and only a few teenagers belonging. The copy cats were all teenagers who formed Satan cults on their own. The 3rd Generation Watchtower Society held separate meetings or secret meetings where they tried to channel a demon through a young girl. They would place paper in front of the girl and a feathered pen in her writing hand. They would chant while the girl performed this kind of Automatic Writing. Then they would decipher the words . Other times they lowered the girl into a snake pit , standing above the pit chanting. The snakes were dead and not threatening to the girl...but it was a disturbing series of events. They were interested in a Luciferian practice no doubt and this took place off of Mill Road in Vineland. In Mill Woods to be precise. Edited by Jacob Schoolcraft - April 10 2022 at 21:04 |

I remember hanging out at Brenner's Brew (closed now) in Bridgeton, NJ, and was talking about Michael Ford of Hexentanz and Luciferians and this tall dude comes from the back of the shop "What do you know about Luciferians??" I was a bit taken aback but spoke to him, which he proclaimed himself as a Luciferian. He turned out to be a rather frightening sort-stalking the owner of the shop and threatening certain of her friends.

Ever heard of apostasy for muslims? They are killed if they leave islam. This was the same for christianity during the middle-ages.

I thought this thread was focused more on the present day. There's been all manner of evil perpetrated by humans "in the name of" numerous religions in times past (and today, of course). I'd rather this thread maintain its focus on the last century, on the weird cults therein, and documentaries.

Very strange, indeed!
That's right out of a Corman film. Any links for further reading?

Why some people follow charismatic "leaders" is the real problem with cults, that in the present day extends to political figures too. I'm afraid that there is no set answer for this, just theories, unfortunately.

Apostasy (and fatwahs) for muslims is contemporaneous.... but then again islam started +/- 600 years later than christianity did... Soooo islam could just have its own inquisition some 600 years after the christian one ended (so they said >> hundred of sorcerers and witches have been killed since) ...

I'm having trouble finding it on YouTube. It's probably easier to Google Ravyn Guliani 3rd Generation Watchtower Society. |

Very creepy. I've been approached by several individuals belonging to cults over the years. I've been asked on several occasions to join which I turned down. The reason being that I always wore black. I played in many bands in the 70s and 80s and always wore black. Is that any reason to ask a person to join a cult? Idk? 😃 The response or immediate reaction from these characters would always be..."Oh..but I heard you practiced witchcraft " or.."But I hear you worshipped Satan"...but, but, but, but, l heard.. me, me, my, my, ...BS...pure BS... 😃 |
