Or have people run out of steam with regards to the interactive polls in general? |

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

Sorry, I was busy these last few days. When should we start voting?

In fact I had nominated "Flight" already for an earlier poll. If I'm not mistaken, also the second band I think of has already been suggested by me, but ultimately not nominated, and with a different track. Much of my favourite travel music is actually rhythmic instrumentals. Like the Hidden Orchestra, also the Startled Insects are among my favourites. Here they are with Creatures: |

One reason why it becomes more difficult to propose something good for the polls is because every collection is ultimately finite and the ambition to always suggest new artists means that at some point those that I really want to present are more or less exhausted. I like the topic a lot but all I have in mind is either prog or was already suggested. I think I also once had something by Hamburg local heroes Ostzonensuppenwurfelmachenkrebs (stock cubes from the GDR make cancer); maybe not here but in Logan's "post a video" thread, but anyway, the sound of this one works very well when driving. Also the video is to some extent travel themed. Von Haus aus allein. Edited by Lewian - April 04 2022 at 18:21 |

It's rather difficult to choose a song, I listen to a lot of different kinds of music while travelling, commuting and so on, from pop, rock, post rock, prog, metal, JRF, even a little bit of jazz.

There are so many songs that I associate with particular journeys, but one stands out more than any other, even though it’s not even a particularly stand out song, per se. In fact, before it became associated with the journey, it was probably my least favourite song on the album it comes from. But it’s since become a very firm favourite. Such is the difference an associated memory can make to a piece of music.
The journey was my return flight from the US to NZ. I was flying out from Seattle, very reluctantly as I had become very good friends and fallen in love with a girl there. These were days before MP3 players, so I had my discman and a selection of CDs to listen to on the long flight home. As it was, the CD I put in at the beginning of the flight remained there for the duration of the flight, as I fell in and out of sleep. And, so very oddly, it seemed as if I only ever woke up at some point during this song. Apart from the take off and landing, I honestly don’t remember hearing any other song. Just this one. Listening to it anytime subsequently reminds me of that flight, and of that girl I left behind. |

For my second track, I've reinterpreted the poll topic as a metaphor for the journey through life, in particular one's career path: Peter Hammill - Careering |

For my third track, I'm surprised I didn't think about this track sooner: Peter Hammill - Sitting Targets |

As soon as the host of the poll has posted his suggestions, I guess? Just kidding. Well normally the voting starts about one week after the poll is up. So theoretically today it is. Edited by Mila-13 - April 05 2022 at 07:32 |

I will stick with the only one I mentioned (and nominated): Ciśnienie - Same Trupy (off Brass Album)
Unless you happen to decide to change it to nominate two tracks... ;) Here's Rawa by Ciśnienie off the album JazzArt Underground incidentally. Edited by Logan - April 05 2022 at 08:18 |

For me, so far this year, it has mainly been about having much less free time and not being able to post or feeling like posting. I have also taken on a new job role, as well as generally getting older and dealing with other family members health issues as well. However, here's my nomination> It can be listened to when it's raining, or sunny, whenever for me it is the promise of better times to come, even through dark times. Always on my playlist for any road trip :) Edited by tigerfeet - April 07 2022 at 20:58 |

I'm sorry, if you were right, I'd agree with you. Robin Williams.

I'll stick with the Angels - Marseilles as my nominee.
I also had CDs with some classic rock and AOR tunes for driving but now play digital playlists over the Bluetooth when I go on extended drives. I have one playlist with rock instrumentals, so here a couple from guitarist Gary Hoey. He got some decent airplay on rock radio stations here in the US back in the early to mid 90s with covers of Hocus Pocus and Low Rider. Here are an original "Drive" (fitting the theme) and a cover of "Linus and Lucy". |

I nominate Startled Insects - Creatures. (I lost a bit track on what I had nominated in earlier polls... I guess Startled Insects were suggested but not nominated, so I hope this is something new for most of you, and what a great track for driving it is!)
