In all honesty, it's probably going to be sometime next year before I eventually get around to listening to Vovin and Theli.

I do not understand your logic here, but anyway... I will not suggest anything from now on, by your logic you'll probably listen to that in 2047. 🤦♂️

All I'm saying is, don't hold your breath in waiting for me to listen to those two Therion albums.

Dismissing them, it feels to me you don't even deserve to listen to them (TBH), especially Vovin.

I'm not dismissing Therion at all. I'm just postponing them.

Like I said, put Theli in the second poll you did there instead of the death metal of the second album (that I imagine you're gonna complain for two pages ). Therion has 13 symphonic metal albums.

^ Are you serious? That would make no sense at all to put Theron's fifth album in the second poll.

Yes, I am very serious, because it is the FIRST symphonic metal album they did.

I'll listen to Therion's second, third and fourth albums before I listen to Theli, and if I don't like them, I can't say you didn't warn me.

You don't have to listen to those albums, why torture yourself when you could listen to their symphonic metal work. I don't understand your reasoning.

You're right. I don't have to listen to all of Therion's early efforts from beginning to end, but at least I'll give them a try. Sometimes, I've been really surprised how much I like a band after listening to all of their albums - like Marillion for instance.

That's apples and oranges. I don't know if you listened to the Therion song Logan posted for you, but that was one of the best song from the Vovin album. it should give you an idea of what the band became.

^ Yes, I did like the Therion song Logan posted, which is one of the reasons I decided it's well-worth keeping them in the Symphonic Metal poll. It gives me something to look forward to when I eventually get around to listening to Therion's Vovin album in full.
Ideally, I'd like to have replaced Therion in the poll with Ayreon, but that would be a case of my heart overruling my head. Common sense prevailed in the end.

Therion were the main creators of the genre, ignoring them would make NO sense. It's like talking about symphonic prog but ignore Yes or Genesis.

While we're on the subject of Ayreon, here's their first awesome album. I still can't help feeling Ayreon fully deserved to be included in this poll, but that will forever remain an Actual Fantasy.

Well, I didn't ignore Therion in the end, because I followed yours and Logan's wise advice and kept them in the poll. Like I said, common sense prevailed.

I got that, but go and listen to the albums that fit in the symphonic metal genre.

Ookaay, that's more than I can say - even I like an album with Univers Zero (Clivages), and wouldn't mind to find some more that I could be fond of. Edit: And if we talk about Zeuhl, that's something else.

When Dream and Day Unite is The Astonishing debut by Dream Theater and Awake-up call for fans of Progressive Metal. It's the only Dream Theater album to feature their original singer, Charlie Dominici. In a Dramatic Turn of Events, Dominici announced he was leaving the band after the recording of their first album, due to the age-old band problem of "artistic differences". Singer James LaBrie was recruited from a cast of hundreds for the recording of Dream Theater's second album in 1992 and he's still with the band in 2022. Dream Theater's outstanding second album remains their most commercially successful album to date - Images and Words can't express just how good this album is. It was A Change of Seasons and a change of keyboard player in 1995 with Kevin Moore leaving the band to be replaced by Derek Sherinian. Dream Theater were in Systematic Chaos in 2010 with the sudden departure of their long-time drummer Mike Portnoy due to exhaustion following a gruelling world tour, but with a Train of Thought following the dictum of Black Clouds & Silver Linings, Dream Theater announced the recruitment of new drummer Mike Mangini who's been with the band ever since. The Astonishing thing about Dream Theater's longevity is how they've withstood the Distance Over Time, despite several major line-up changes along the way.:-
Lead Vocals:- Charlie Dominici (1987-1989); James LaBrie (1991-2022) Guitars:- John Petrucci (1985-2022) Bass:- John Myung (1985-2022) Keyboards:- Kevin Moore (1985-1994); Derek Sherinian (1995-1999); Jordan Rudess (1999-2022) Drums:- Mike Portnoy (1985-2010); Mike Mangini (2010-2022) 1989: Dream Theater - When Dream and Day Unite - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_li0d7h1v8158uiQviXYaU0s-YVGLUiFr8
