Flower Kings...Wobbler...Transatlantic, though to be honest I don't play the 10 or so I own from that list since the later ones by the bands are far better.

Halla to Anekdoten! from Sweden they are coming with their debut album "Vemod", which is Swedish for "Melancholy", but don't let that put you off as this is a moody and magnificent album featuring a pounding bass guitar combined with melancholic Mellotron passages, so it should appeal to fans of King Crimson.

Anekdoten are Sweden's third best export: after ABBA & Volvo.

that would be awesome but I don't think so. There is Europe and then Roxette (not anymore as the lead singer has sadly passed away).

Do you mean to say you disagree with me again? Roxette and Europe may be more popular and better-known, but I'm pretty sure Anekdoten are more highly regarded amongst prog fans.

again you said Anekdoten is third best export after ABBA and Volvo. I disagree. You forgot about IKEA. |

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

I wasn't being entirely serious when I said Anekdoten are Sweden's third biggest export, behind ABBA & Volvo.... There's also Saab. At least we can agree on Anekdoten being Sweden's second best musical export.

OK, anyway, good to see you are giving Anekdoten a chance, better late than never I guess.

As promised, I'm planning to check out all the albums in these Modern Prog polls, so today it's Anekdoten, and tomorrow Anglagard, neither of which I've ever heard before.

Freak Kitchen is great, but rather overlooked. I don't see Paul listening to FK, but maybe I'm wrong.

You're right. Freak Kitchen sounds a bit too freaky for my conservative tastes.

^ Not bad, but I prefer this version of Burning Bridges from the movie Kelly's Heroes.

But you surely suprised me being fond of Abba and Europe, so now I don't really dare to start a thread for the non-Prog 90's because what will be the next?

I love Europe. Most people don't know much about them beyond their famous hit. Listen to any album of theirs since they made their comeback in 2003. You'll have some surprises. They did only one album in the 90s but all musicians in the band did music on their own in that decade. Do a non-prog 90s thread, it's actually a good idea.
