Thank you JD. I will definitely check it out. The TV series that I watched recently and was pretty impressed with it was Mozart in the Jungle (Amazon Studios). Comedy-drama (not as funny as Mrs. Maisel) based on the memoir, the stories around the members of New York Philharmonic orchestra. The main characters are young oboist and eccentric new conductor played by Gael Garcia Bernal who received Golden Globe for his role in 2016. BTW, I saw him also in Station Eleven. The series was developed by Roman Coppola (son of Francis Ford Coppola), Jason Schwartzman (actor known from Wes Anderson movies) and couple other writers. Unfortunately the series is not consistent because each episode was written by different writer. There are unforgettable, uplifting episodes and other episodes are dull, uninteresting. Lots of great classical music performances. One of my favorite episodes is when NY Symphony goes to Rikers Island prison and performs for detainees in the jail yard. Powerful and heart melting filmmaking. One of the episodes has a short but sweet progressive-rock reference.

Tribes of Europa (2021 - S01/6 episodes - Germany): A very good series from Germany. It has a high entertainment value. A neat post-apocalyptic TV-series that is nicely imaginative. 8/10

Besides watching Schitt's Creek, Ted Lasso, and Killing Eve over and over, I've been watching a lot of Korean series. Weird how relationships are portrayed over there. It's Okay to Not Be Okay may be the finest television series I've ever watched (been through it four times now): beauty, great acting, great story, funny, amazing integration of animation and "classic" children's storybook themes, with probably the best exposition of the spectrum of human mental/psychological diseases/disorders/dysfunctions I've ever been seen in television.
Also, actress Han So-hee from My Name and Nevertheless has got to be one of the bravest, most versatile, and talented actresses I've ever seen. The scripts she's taken on, alone, might be leading (or challenging) the accepted "norms" in Korean cinema and television. Amazing! P.S. Didn't think much of Station 11 or Nine Perfect Strangers Edited by BrufordFreak - February 08 2022 at 13:58 |

Absolutely love Resident Alien (can't wait for S2) but never got into The Blacklist which seemed a bit too 'theatrical' but then that doesn't normally put me off

That's a great series indeed , very disappointed to see it didn't continue for at least another season. btw the lead actor Gael Garcia Bernal recently popped up in Station Eleven playing a theatre actor who literally dies on stage doing Hamlet!

This post might be entitled 'Netflix and Sci-Fi' as I've just finished a few shows that fit the bill.
Lost In Space Season 3 2021 Another Life Season 2 2021 I bracket these together as they ended up being remarkably similar plot wise. I won't spoil it though if you are planning to watch either. Good characters , not that 'dark' as a lot of sc-fi can be and both look good on a decent HD TV. Job done if lacking a bit on emotional impact. Both 7/10 Final Space Season 3 2021 This animated series just gets better and better. I felt very invested in the characters and the plot lines, great job all round. 9/10

If you are a sci-fi fan you should try The Expanse if you haven't already seen it. One of the best sci-fi shows I have ever watched. It does take a little time to develop, the first season is a little slow.

We finished Archive 81 last night. Could be more to come hopefully. Quite enjoyable and I liked the lead actor, not so much Melody. 7.5/10

Yes I did like The Expanse , very complex drama that works best when in space and the drama is on board the ships. When its on Earth (or some random planet) then it became less interesting to me. |

Incorporated (2016-2017 - 1 season / 10 episodes - US): Started out great. Really great. But went on only good after a couple of episodes. The feeling of despair was prevalent, as in some satirical Black Mirror episodes that portray bleak dystopias. The ending was like heralding a second season, but it didn't come. Probably because it wasn't a success in terms of popularity. Only barely more than 5K ratings on IMDb. 7/10

Have not seen this mentioned but the wife PUSHED me to watch Ted Lasso (I thought it was going to be corny) . Two episodes in, I was hooked, line and sinker. Extremely clever, brilliant casting, the script is punchy. Feel good TV in Covid times ? Surely panacea

The Morning Show (Season 2) Drama Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon 7.5/10 The behind the scenes drama continues with revelation after revelation. The second season deals with the beginnings of the Covid mess and it seems almost historic. My god, was it only two years ago, it seems like 5. Hopefully they don't dwell too much on that in the next season as all of us are more than ready to move on. |

Reacher 2022 (Season 1) Alan Ritchson Action/Drama 7/10 What I can say is that Ritchson's portrayal of Jack Reacher is at least in line with the character as he was written. Tom Cruise certainly didn't fit the description. That being said, I found several of the fight scenes lacking in authenticity and some of the dialogue seemed a little cheesy. At least the TC film version was crafted a little better and Tom is certainly a master of action sequences. Now if they can only marry the two and bring the big screen action to the small screen story this could be a decent series. I'll reassess after season two premiers.

^ have you seen Ritchson in the SyFy series Blood Drive? I thought he was great in that (and also Titans for that matter). I'm only one episode into Reacher but quite enjoyable stuff . I'll keep going.

If you ignore the fact that it tries to transpose Association Football (or 'soccer' for all you yanks!!) with American Football, using terms like 'Offence' and 'Decoys' which are not a thing in soccer, then its enjoyable enough. UK comedienne Ellie Taylor is the hidden star in it. She is absolutely stunning but also could easily carry a much bigger role if needed. My plea to the script writers and producers , please do just that!

Lucifer Season 6 2021 (10 episodes)
I finally managed to get through it although it was hard work as much of the fun went missing about 2 seasons ago. At least they gave it a proper 'burial' and the story line was okay. 6/10

Now to be honest, I have no knowledge of the Reacher character as written. I only knew the Tom Cruise version but heard that the description of the character (6' + and 250 lbs) was absent from the movies. That being said I though they portrayed Ritchson's version as a little more of a meathead, even though his background would indicate otherwise. It just felt that TC's version was a little smarter. but that's just my opinion on a single pass through the series. I also found it a little hard to believe that the skinny little guy, no matter how much of a psycho he was, could land the blows and hammer Reacher like he did. I gotta believe one landed punch from Reacher would put just about anybody down handily.
