Lorenzo, I was more sounding out how frequently participants want the polls up again, and how much interest in the polls continue amongst the participants.
As far as length, there still seems to be a bit of a curve, most (who speak up, anyway), like the 2-week model, less liking the shorter or longer models, but there are still fans of both.
It seems that we've lost a few participants along the way, especially during and after the holidays. We also have some newer participants. Wondering if some momentum was lost because of it, or have people begun merely become busier as Covid restrictions lift, so therefore don't have as much time or whatever reasons to participate? |

I believe that it is already a great success that these interactive polls continue with at least a dozen participants. Taking part in these polls makes each of us spend a lot of time, as TCat knows well, who had to leave us to take care of the new prog artists. Everyone has their own interests and family and personal problems. For example, I have had various personal problems in the last two years and to participate in these polls I had to leave out the activity of reviewer, my presence in the group reserved for the collaborators of Progarchives and also my activity in the Prog Polls. In my opinion, as regards the duration of the Polls we can be flexible, for example: the forumist that opens the poll could decide whether to make it last only one week (with an immediate nomination) or two weeks. |

Usually anything works better with less rigidity, since there are always unforeseen, or even scheduled things that can happen to us all. Long live the Interactive Polls!

Lorenzo said so. Perhaps the simplistic spirit of the gathering was lost on me, after being absent for a long time... Shall I make it like a track where there's a single musician performing, who can play an instrument and sing also? In addition to my initial theme? Would an expansion be good? Like The Anders said... Such as harmonica + vocals, guitar + vocals? I guess it is not too late, given that any of us still can change our stuff anytime before voting period begins? What say you all? Well, after all I'm glad that your theme have inspired me to remember a classical composition of my youth, but we may listen to what our friends say. If they preferred the option two instruments (which includes vocals + an instrument), you could expand your theme in that way. Edited by jamesbaldwin - February 13 2022 at 01:33 |

^ OK. Let's wait for some time to get more responses then. Your nomination would still be valid, as I'll not alter my theme, but expand it.

The main problem that I had is that - if I want to avoid piano and other keyboard instruments and classical music in general, I end up either with some experimental stuff or with one-instrument cover versions of well known songs incl. some cheesy esotheric stuff, that is albums with well known songs played with the same instrument, at worst a pan flute or something like that. LoL Even a flamenco guitar or oud etc. usually have some kind of musical accompaniment. I suggest therefore that you allow musical accompaniment as long as the focus remains on the solo performer? As for vocals, I would stick with instrumental music otherwise things will get a bit complicated, me thinks. Edited by Mila-13 - February 13 2022 at 04:14 |

^ Fair enough. But the title of the poll is "Where Musicians Don't Interact", and this can encompass sole vocal tracks too. Unless someone opposes, I'll let any kind of music as long as it is played and/or sung by one person.

Personally, I don't mind when a poll theme gets a bit more specific, although I can imagine that others might feel less comfortable with it (needing more "research" time, which sometimes is spare...). I like it, and have no troubles finding music for this one, but it might need some flexibility from each of us how far a theme can be stretched/interpreted...

^ Thanks Kees. So, some people seem to have difficulty, or couldn't think of (many) options except the "classical" pieces. It seems proper to make my enhancement.

Ok, I was just thinking that by allowing vocals people might feel encouraged to bring singer-songwriters which is not exactly what your intention was, right? Would this new variation of the theme include one-person bands, that is artists who play more than one instrument simultanously? Edited by Mila-13 - February 13 2022 at 05:21 |

^ The composition/songwriting might belong to another musician. The "single musician" criterion is limited to the performer.

Nice that you asked this. Yes, a multi-instrumentalist playing more than one instrument in the same performance should be OK. But a studio recording of a multi-instrumentalist where s/he plays a myriad of instruments separately and records them is not. Let me add this to my explanation in the poll. |

Exactly, otherwise it would be difficult to find a piece of classical music!

One more question on current poll, just want to make sure an a capella solo singer is fine? Release was from a group recording, but this is just one vocalist, the group is not an a capella group, nothing else is on it but the solo singer.
