Recently on Twitter there was quite an interesting discussion about which song (or piece of music) would you like to be the last you hear before departing this life (to wherever we go to afterwards).

[I'll wait to see if there is any interest in this topic first before making my own comments.]

So what would be your choice?

So criteria would seem to suggest...

Long piece - to drag the inevitable out more
Pastoral piece - to made the passing calm
Favourite piece - to keep the melody rolling around the soul as it departs the mortal coil
Maybe all three - if you're lucky

I'll go with Tarkus live from Welcome Back My Friends live album (CD version that's not cut)

Some interesting choices so far.

I'd be more than happy to leave this life listening to 'Going Home' by Annie Haslam. [I'd also like that played at my funeral, with 'Great Gig in the Sky' for the committal.]

Dear God.

For my last supper... Filet Mignon (medium), Sea Bass with lemon butter sauce, Jack Stack Barbecue ribs, honey glazed carrots, grilled asparagus, and a cherry malt. Desert would be creme brulee followed by a 200 year old single malt.
