not looking to argue, but two things here: You spelled his name wrong - it's And I never recommended it, I was shocked about you not knowing about DiMeola and his most famous work, or at least one of them.

Thanks for letting me know. I thought I'd give you credit for recommending I listen to Al Di Meola, even though you didn't officially recommend him to me. It doesn't do much for my Jazz credentials though (such as they are) when I can't even spell Al Di Meola's name correctly. By the way, my favourite store happens to be ALDI, so that'll help me to remember how to spell his name next time.

Message for Grumpy: I'm not having much luck finding full album links - other than Live albums - for the Pat Metheny Group, so I'll Have to Call Off the Search for now. Let's hope I have better luck with Allan Holdsworth. In the meantime, here's a nice mellifluous song from Katie Melua.

Not yet, but I will do now that you've mentioned him, and thanks for the great suggestion. In the meantime, here's a song from the album Today, which I'm posting simply Because I like it. Edited by Psychedelic Paul - April 06 2022 at 06:55 |

^ It's good to see Stewart Copeland still strutting his stuff nearly forty years after the break-up of The Police.

I really dig the current Italian outfit Calibro 35. They’re certainly not reinventing the wheel, but man these guys groove

The Gary McFarland / Gabor Szabo connection has just reminded me of this sun-soaked album of gorgeous Californian Sunshine Pop.

thank you Paul. it was seeing Gabor Szabo on your list that made me look to see if you had posted Gary McFarland. a musician friend & listener of SPACE PIRATE RADIO introduced me to Gary's AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL concept album. very kindly sent me a CD copy when the show began broadcasting on Twitch. became a fan of Gary's from then on. was surprised I had never come across his work previously, especially since I played Gabor's music in the mid 70s. I had heard the soundtrack to SLAVES, the Stephen Boyd, Dionne Warwick film, but the name didn't register. glad that's all sorted out now. best to you.

My pleasure. I'm now torn between which featured artist to choose for the letter "G" in my first A-Z playlist of Jazz favourites: either Gary McFarland or Gabor Szabo.

All that Jazz! With a mind-boggling 630 artists and 4200 albums to listen to here, where on EARTH do I start!?
I start with an A-Z playlist, that's where. Allan Holdsworth - for Grumpy Bob James - did someone call for a Taxi Candy Dulfer - She's so saxy! David Axelrod - He's no Electric Prune and he's no relation to the US politician of the same name Eric Gale - Bright & breezy jazz-matazz Fattburger - No thanks, I'm on a diet Gary McFarland - for Guy Herbie Hancock - for Saperlipopettel Incognito - They're Always There Jan Hammer - It's Hammer Time! King Curtis - King of the sax! Lalo Schifrin - It's Impossible not to like him Miles Davis - Is he really the first prog artist? Norman Connors - Get Funky! Oregon - a shoo-in for the letter "O" for this Jazz Fusion outfit from Eugene, Oregon Pat Metheny Group - for Grumpy Quincy Jones - Prolific US record producer, musician, songwriter, composer & arranger. He's The Dude! The Rippingtons - for Dwill123 Shakatak -By kind Invitations Tom Scott - for Dwill123 Urban Knights - Cool jazzy guys from the ghetto Victor Wooten - Slap that bass! Wilton Felder - a Jazz Crusader Yellowjackets - Robben Ford's jazzy band of brothers Zbonics - Well, who else was it going to be!?
